“Extraordinary spot, perfectly care for”
Reviewed 26 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

3 couples from the US stayed here for four nights in late October and had a wonderful time. The house is perfectly situation just below Beynac Castle and just above the Dordogne River. The weather was good and we cooked out several times enjoying the splendid deck. We also cooked in the well equipped kitchen. The 3 bedrooms were very well equipped and set up, and each bath was just fine.

The owners were a pleasure to deal with. The town is lovely, if a little quiet this time of year.

“A gem on the Dordogne”
Reviewed 1 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

First, we were looking for a smaller intimate village for our stay in the Dordogne and we were more than happy to find that we were not disappointed on the township of Beynac (meaning the place of the big rock). The L'ancienne Poste was a perfect location to enjoy the delights of the Perigord Noire. The accommodations were better than advertised as the view was even more spectacular than we anticipated. The interior has been extensively remodeled and well equipped. The pool was a delight to cool off from the few very warm afternoons. The town is small and very manageable to find all your needs and we personally recommend the restaurant La Petite Tonnelle. And don't miss the weekly market in the parking lot for Foie Gras and fine (and inexpensive) wines. In short, a great place to stay and very responsive owners.

“Best of all worlds”
Reviewed 25 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My Partner and I stayed for just under a week at the end of August and we had a wonderful time. The property is stunning, amazing location, amazing views and amazing facilities. It's a 5 minute walk to the bakery where we got our croissants every morning and there's also a small shop and butchers so you can get most things you need. The property itself was great, we most enjoyed the views (which you get pretty much everywhere), the terrace where we chilled watching the sunset, hot air balloons and where we ate every meal. The swimming pool was great, was very private and prefect for a bit of chilling. Would recommend this property for location, facilities and views, for everything really.

“This property is all about the location and views”
Reviewed 19 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

If you love to eat outdoors and relax and admire a breathtaking view, then this is the property for you. The terrace is somewhere to eat, drink and watch the river and hot air balloons overhead. Also easy walking into the pretty village and castle. Easy drives to other locations to break up the holiday.

“Location! Location! Location!”
Reviewed 1 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We've just returned from an unforgettable stay in Beynac at L'ancienne Poste. The house is amazing and the views from every window, the outside terrace and balcony are fabulous. The house is spacious and well equipped and the owners Xanthe and Hamish were incredibly helpful from our initial equity right through to our departure. They recommended restaurants to book for our wedding anniversary meal as well as morning markets and evening food markets to visit. We were able to BBQ and eat out on the terrace each day watching the flotilla of canoes and kayaks floating down the river. In the early morning and evening we watched hot air balloons drift by. It was wonderful to float in the swimming pool looking out at the river below and see chateaux in the distance. Shops, restauarnts and bars are conveniently located down the hill as is canoe hire. We will definitely want to rent this house again in the future. As others have said the road up to the house is a little snug but getting the car up and down there is all part of the experience! Thank you Xanthe and Hamish for enabling us to have such a wonderful holiday.

“Excellent experience,would definitely go again.”
Reviewed 28 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

A beautiful spot, just as shown in the photos (or better). Perfectly clean, cool, even in very hot weather, a short walk to bakery, restaurants, etc. Breathtaking view and a wonderful location for visiting nearby Sarlat, Domme, La Roque Gageac etc. We paddled on the Dordogne, went hot-air ballooning, visited the markets and toured the perigord, perfect. Booking and payment were straight-forward and the instructions about the car access was exactly right.

“Beautiful house in a very picturesque village convenient for touring the Dordogne”
Reviewed 16 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

My wife and I stayed at L'Ancienne Poste with another couple for a week in May 2016. While the drive up to the house is a little "tight" in places (rent a narrow car!" it added to the excitement for the week). The house is delightful and the views from the patio overlooking the Dordogne are stunning (especially in the morning when the mist still lies on the river). The house has two good sized bedrooms with views over the river and is well equipped. We cooked most evenings with fresh produce bought each day from one of the local markets in the surrounding towns and villages. The owners are very friendly and provided very complete instructions that helped the week go well. We would highly recommend a stay here!
