“Met all expectations!”
Reviewed 27 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Threw a dart and hit BEYNAC, FRANCE. After a good conversation with Vincent, the owner, decided to go for it. Couldn't have been more thrilled upon our arrival. It was a downpour and Martine, the housekeeper, found us in a parking lot and was carrying umbrellas...we knew we were in good hands. From the moment I saw Le Petite Maison online, I was smitten. And I was NOT disappointed. The home was cute, well appointed with very nice furnishings, bedding and fully stocked with what we needed to start our two week stay. The Perigord Noir is just stunningly beautiful. I would come back in a heartbeat...not only did we walk 100 miles down river, over castle steps and town to town, we saw a leg of the Tour de France, ate gizzard salads (delish! ) and simply enjoyed. Thank you Vincent for opening your home to us travelers, for providing such a nice, comfortable accommodation and for your wonderful follow thru during every stage, even down to the warning about the Tour coming thru Beynac...it helped tremendously in changing our car rental to the next day! All your suggestions were spot on. We loved every second of our visit to Beynac and will be looking forward to returning.

“Lovely cottage in lovely village.”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A really lovely cottage in a fabulous village on the banks of the Dordogne. Loved the character of the cottage. Owners's responses prompt and accurate. His advice invaluable.
Highlights for us included a superb string quartet playing in the church by the chateau. And the medieval fair in Belves. And sitting on the cottage terrace with ice-cold gin and tonics as the rest of the world struggled by.
All great. Would be back tomorrow given the chance.

“Home Away From Home!”

I immediately fell in love with this beautiful little cottage the moment I laid eyes on it while researching for a place to stay in the Dordogne Valley. I was so glad we made the decision to stay here as the cottage exceeded all of our expectations during our stay in Dec 2015.

From the moment we made contact with the owner, the response and reservation process was quick and efficient. Instructions were clear and payment was fuss-free. It helped that the owner was knowledgeable with the Dordogne area and provided a very detailed and substantial visitor's guide before we left for France. Although the housekeeper spoke only French, we managed to get through the meet-and-greet procedure and key collection without a hitch. Martine, the housekeeper, was extremely helpful and it was nice to know that she stays in the same village, in case she needs to be contacted for anything (though we never needed to bother her).

The cottage definitely lives up to it's description as being charming and although petite, there was more than enough room for 4 adults. The 2 bedrooms were very nicely decorated and functional, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The attic bedroom room was very spacious and has an extra bed for a child or another adult. The other ensuite bedroom in the basement level was just as lovely, and had an extra touch of glamour with a small chandelier light. The bathroom wall was left in it's original raw state, which I thought was really cool.

The kitchen area was cosy but functional and had enough equipment to cook a meal for 4 persons. As we were there during the Christmas week, we made good use of the kitchen when most restaurants were closed for the holiday. There was also a small little outdoor terrace behind the kitchen, which would have been a lovely place to sip wine in the evening during warmer weather. To keep you connected to the rest of the world and your family back home, free WiFi is provided in the cottage, along with other practical things like a washing machine and dryer.

The village itself is probably one of the most beautiful hill towns in the area and it's definitely a good base for us to explore the region. It is often very peaceful and quiet, especially in the evenings, but I wonder if its due to the winter season? But I do like it this way as it often feels like we had the village all to ourselves! Parking is also not too much of a problem as there are parking lots about 2-3 mins walk away, and it's normally free during winter.

We were at La Petite Maison for a week but it flew by very quickly and we were all very sad to leave. This little cottage has given us lots of precious memories which will continue to be with us for a very long time to come. I hope to be back again some day soon to this beautiful little cottage called La Petite Maison.

“Perhaps petite on space, but large on memories!”
Reviewed 18 December 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Location, location, location. The Maison is compact but beautifully equipped. Nothing is lacking in terms of comfort and ease of day to day living. One of the bonuses is that the Maison is on route to the castle and if you put yourself on the wee patio, you now have amazing and numerous opportunities to chat with folk from all over the world. Another bonus is the next door neighbor who speaks no English, but will chatter enthusiastically in French and by golly you can communicate! The house is walking distance to an assortment of venues, the grocer, shops, restaurants, a boat ride, a hike or two . . . just charming. Oh and of course the castle. Worth the breathless climb at all times of day, for the view, the sunsets, the hot air balloons. A magical location and place.

“Absolutely brilliant!”
Reviewed 6 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We were a party of 4, 2 couples and this gite suited us completely. A quirky atmospheric place to spend a weeks holiday. The gite was very comfortable with all mod cons and furnished to a high standard, very much home from home! It was clean and well stocked and everything we hoped it would be. The top bedroom was a little stuffy, but this was due to the excellent weather we had as such the supply of fans was very much welcomed. Beynac itself is beautiful as is the surrounding villages, and caning was the best! I would highly recommend this gite to anyone.

“Home Sweet Stone Cottage, Home!”
Reviewed 21 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We booked this place with a couple of friends and were absolutely delighted in every way. We are very experienced travels and unanimously proclaimed this a place to which we would love to return. La Petite Maison was beautifully put it out with everything we could've needed for our stay. We really enjoyed shopping the open air markets and bringing home fresh food to cook in the well-stocked kitchen, sometimes eating on the lovely stone terrace. We could not have felt more at home and would highly recommend this place, except for the fact that we want to come back without having to compete with other enthusiastic prospective guests!
