My wife and I tried this wonderful little restaurant in the quaint spa town of Salies-de-Béarn during a May 2014 visit to France. Restaurant des Voisins was recommended to us by a local merchant and the recommendation was a good one. We ordered their plat du midi, a fixed price lunch special and it exceeded our expectations.
We began with an amuse bouche of creamed foie gras presented as mousse and dusted with spices. This was followed by a joue de beouf, with roast potatoes and slivered vegetables. The beef was tender, juicy and succulent having been carefully prepared in red wine and served with Béarnaise sauce.
For desert we were treated to a dab of homemade chocolate ice cream sevred alongside a cup of delicate chocolate mousse. Coffee was included the 12€ flat price.
It was a wonderful lunch served outdoors in a narrow passage around the corner from the tourist office. Service was quick, polite and attentive. A better plat du midi would be hard to find.
