This is the Italian culinary experience that is written about.
Castel Sant'Angelo is tucked away, far from the madding crowd in an old (mediaeval?) castle.
The food prepared by the proprietaria was absolutely divine - and lots of it; course after course. I think we embarrassed ourselves because we could not get through it all
If you're in a hurry, buy a pizza somewhere else. This place deserves spending some time at to fully appreciate the food and wine
This is a must-visit place on your trip to Italy

Wonderful Country House, a little jewel immersed in the hills in this gentle part of Marche. Several rooms inside, frozen in time: stony walls, ancient wooden rafters, fireplaces. There's also a small room with just a table for two, for romantic dinners, secluded from the other people in a lovely atmosphere. Outside, gorgeous view on the hills all around, a few of them with small villages on top. Food is great, typical of this region, host and personnel are very friendly and genuine.
Bottom line, this is proof that Marche are much better value than Tuscany, just try, you won't be disappointed!

Many people in the area of Castelraimondo/Matelica would point to this restaurant as the best of the area, and it definitely deserves this opinion. It offers typical recipes from the cuisine of Marche, prepared with excellent local ingredients and great care. The owner is very hospitable and the atmosphere is both somewhat elegant and relaxing (I would recommend it for a romantic dinner). The location is also way up in the hills, with an outstanding view on the surrounding countryside at sunset.

In April of this year we visited this restaurant with 16 including 3 children in my party for my 50th birthday. We had a typical Italian Family Sunday lunch that lasted 6 and a half hours. The food and the wine just kept coming. We had anti pasti, 5 different pastas and I think by the size a whole sheep then dessert. The wine we had was a Local Rosso Comero. Since we have been back home I have tried to buy some, the cheapest I can get it in England is £35 per bottle. The food was fantastic and could not be faulted. But after the best meal and service I have ever had in this type of restaurant ( Family run in the middle of nowhere) and that's not cheapening it in any way it came to just €37 per couple. Now who says Italy is expensive
