“"Outstanding"”

We stayed three nights, Maison du Paradou is quite unlike most places we have stayed before. Nick and Andrea are the most wonderful hosts. The extra touches were just exquisite. We stayed in the Violette room which was lovely. Nick's knowledge of the area was great, thank you for pointing us in the right direction for our day trips. Andrea's touches are everywhere, breakfast was great. The restaurants in the area (recommend and booked by Nick thanks again) are outstanding, our favorite place was La Bistro du Paradou. We have many wonderful memories, sitting around the table having pre dinner drinks every evening was a great touch you really did feel like old friends. Great place, great people, great area. Will return.

We went to Maison Paradou in high season (late July-early Aug) staying 8 nights and in need of a special place - we found it in Maison Bleu. It is especially beautiful, calm and gorgeous and close to all you might want to want to see in Provence. The touches where equisite, breakfast, crockery, towels and much more and the hosting attentive and charming. It was deeply relaxing - a sort of aspirational way of life.

Room Tip: All lovely

Maison du Paradou is quite unlike most places we stay. It is an utterly charming and beautifully decorated B&B with five bedrooms in the main building in a tiny village close to St. Remy. We were referred to this property by a friend who now lives in Provence, and it was a superb recommendation (thanks, Julie!). First, it is a very convenient location to visit the many interesting places in the area (including St. Remy, Aix, Les Baux, and Arles). But any place in the area has that advantage. What truly sets Maison du Paradou apart is the people, starting with the owners, Andrea and Nick. They are so gracious and accommodating that one truly has the feeling that you are special guests of theirs in a very special place. Each morning starts with a terrific buffet breakfast, with beautiful place settings in their lovely garden/pool area. French-press coffee, fresh pasties and fruit, a variety of cheeses, and the like is a wonderful way to start a day in Provence! Nick is the consummate tour guide, who will suggest sights, routes to get there, restaurants, and other tidbits of local knowledge that one does not often get. When we would return to the Maison, we would be welcomed warmly as if we were lifelong friends. Our room (the Emeraude room) was beautiful and functional—big, comfortable, and very clean. The Maison has so much to offer beyond its lovely accommodations, including a very advanced video system (which we never used because we were so busy with other things!), a beautiful library and sitting spaces, complimentary coffee, and several fully-stocked honor bars that included excellent local wines. Our gracious hosts also enjoy offering a lovely glass of wine in the late afternoon, along with good conversation. A wonderful way to start the evening.

In addition to our peerless innkeepers, we so enjoyed sitting and talking with the other guests, who were wonderful, interesting, and well-traveled people who had stayed with Andrea and Nick before. Time at the Maison was so comfortable and relaxing that we almost felt guilty at times that we weren’t getting out to see more of the sights! We had come to Provence with the intent of touring and relaxing, and having Maison du Paradou as our starting and finishing point of each day made it a perfect visit.

Room Tip: The Emeraude room was terrific, with a very large en suite bathroom.

La Maison du Paradou is the embodiment of the rare qualities of charm, total luxury, absence of pretentiousness and total attention to detail.
In a world, which is full of establishments offering enormous marbled luxury with no end of facilities that most travelers will never use, all at ridiculous prices, it is wonderful to arrive at a small hotel, which is so beautifully appointed that most guests will wish that heir own homes could emulate such taste and beauty. Added to that visual impression you will then be cosseted by the owners - Nick and Andrea - in such a way that they never invade your space but are always on hand for the smallest request or piece of advice.
The bedrooms, the corridors, the indoor living areas are all immaculate and breathtakingly decorated and furnished. The linen, towels, dressing gowns and bathroom accessories are of the very highest quality - on a par with any 5 star hotel.
Breakfast is served outside under the pergola on spacious tables and pretty much any imaginable ingredients are available.
The pool is small but perfect for the hotel with plenty of sun beds.
The interaction with other guests is also a very enjoyable part of the stay - we have visited on 4 occasions and each time there has been a handful of quiet, delightful guests, from all sorts of countries, who are happy to chat and converse over a glass of wine.
The only difficulty is keeping one's own sense of proportion in terms of being a hotel guest and not being a personal house guest of Andrea and Nick. The owners kindness in offering a glass of wine here and there needs to be countered by the insistence of purchasing a bottle of one's own to reciprocate the kindness and hospitality, which is extended at all times.
A sincere 100% recommendation given with a degree of reluctance in that I may be the architect of my own inability to book a room in the future - however, such excellence deserves recognition.

My wife and I stayed here with a few other friends while enjoying a 50 year birthday party weekend in the village hosted by some lovely lifelong friends. We were booked in by the birthday boy's parents who are in their 70s. They swear by Nick and Andrea and put up their visiting global friends there often. We were newbies. The group ranged from mid-40s to 50. It was an eclectic group - financial to film and art - who have seen many motels and hotels between us. All I can say is that Nick and Andrea ROCK! It reminded me of a few small hotels such as the Pensione Korakia in Palm Springs back in the day, mid-1990s or the Chateau Hatley in the countryside of Quebec before it burned down or the Pavillon de la Reine in Paris. These aren't visual comparisons but more feelings for the vibe, warmth, casualness and quality of service and detail. I am not talking about obsequiousness but the knowledge of when to step forward and backward - when to be part of the group and when to drift away. The prior reviewers said it all - nice sized rooms and bathrooms, lived in common rooms tastefully done, great breakfast (who needs to eat after long rose-filled lunches and fistfuls of Rhones, red and white, and lamb and cheese at dinner) and companionship. They had great suggestions and stayed one step ahead of us. Unasked they bought cidre for one guest who subsequently fell in love with them and stayed another night just to hang out with them. Top that!!! We are going back as soon as we can ditch the children. I just want to thank them for putting up with the drunken late night Beatle's songs and some of the other transgressions. They really do feed you love by the spoonful. Now I am looking forward to visiting their daughter's pub in Midhurst, West Sussex once it is up and running.

Room Tip: Make time to sit around with a glass of wine poolside before dinner. Don't rush!

My wife and I had a wonderful time here - the room was well laid out, the bed comfortable, and we awoke every morning to look out onto the courtyard containing two swimming pools and lush tropical plants and flowers. Nick and Andrea couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfast and great wine and conversation in the evening. La Maison is well situated for easy day trips to the market in Uzes or the Roman colliseum in Niemes and many other places of interest in Provence. We are anxious to return.

We visited La Maison du Paradou for the second time in September of last year. This time we brought my brother and his wife, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Just as the previous reviewer, I cannot understand why anyone has found fault with Nick and Andrea's hospitality or treatment. Both are wonderful hosts--thoroughly knowledgeable about the area, and happy to visit with and advise guests. It seems to me that the number of reviewers here who made a second visit to LMP and wrote a second review should tell you how special it is. Granted, it's not the cheapest place you'll visit, but for sure you get what you pay for here. Nick's advice on what to do, and where to eat are spot on. Andrea is witty, widely read and a delightful conversationalist--and does a really fine breakfast. Drinks in the late afternoon are quite wonderful, and other guests are usually interesting.
We had one misfortune, misreading the GPS and ending up an hour away--how we did that when we were on a return visit I cannot say (but do use the lattitude/longitude feature of your GPS in Europe), but Nick was as gracious as he could be getting us on the right road, repairing our dinner reservation, and ensuring our comfort on check in.
Again, from the point of view of a former inn owner, our experience was that you just don't connect with every guest. I can imagine that there are those who don't get Nick's sly sense of humor, or Andrea's way of thinking about what she's saying. But for us, these hosts are always going to be a standard by which all others are measured.
