“A good base.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

This was always just a base. A cost effective, tidy hotel close to the Metro. Its a little way out but using the Metro - so what. That's all part of the fun. The bedroom was quite small but again we were in Paris. The beds were lumpy and needed new mattresses. The bathroom was excellent - better than the bedroom actually. Breakfast was great - a really good start to the day and plenty of choice. 4 star - No, I would suggest 3 star was more appropriate, but it was OK - comfortable. We came to Paris to see Paris, not stay in a hotel - it provided what we expected - nothing more, nothing less.

We got a special offer for a night in Paris and chosed this particular hotel for its easy access from the peripherique. We had hard times booking and getting the booking right, it seems the booking process is not very efficient and strenuous. After writing an email to the director, everything went smooth. The reception staff was very helpful and nice, the premises are clean, rooms spacious and clean. Breakfast offers a wide array of warm and cold food, a bargain for 10€, and the 20€ per day parking fee is a great deal by parisian standards. Regular prices are a bit harsh for this hotel but dig for a package deal or a special offer, especially off-season.
Getting to the areas to visit is a child's game with the metro line just a minute away from the hotel.

Stayed a week and you could be at any Novotel in the world
Same decor, same carpets, same room - great for consistency but surely they could employ an interior designer?
For a 4 star hotel (?) I expected more but then I suppose it has to fit within the Accor brand structure - it really needs a gym or other ammenties
Apart from that, the hotel was well run. Good food, good service, very helpful staff
Rooms were very hot though (even in October) so I can imagine they would be unbearable in summer.
Location was great for the Liberte metro station with good links to the centre of Paris but the rest of the local area was quiet - even the local cafe closed in the evening - with limited options for eating locally
That said, the Bistrot de Charenton was excellent & good value but has limited opening at the weekends

Room Tip: Rooms at the back should be quieter but would they be hotter?

How would you feel when you checkin very tired late in the night and have to face the following

1. The hotel looks pretty run down
2. The access card doesnt work on the elevator and you have to go to reception to ask for help. The guy comes to help you after a few tries makes it work
3. You go four floor up, walk almost a full corridor and get to your room, now the access card doesnt work again, you try several times because you are tired and dont want to go down again
4. No luck, go back to the reception, this time the guy gives you a new card and walks along with you to your room. The card works and you enter
5. Soon after entering the room, you are about to crash and you see big fat mosquitoes in the room... you are so tired that you just ignore that and go to sleep
6. Wake up early in the morning as you have a meeting and you go to the toilet and see several mosquities!! Big fat mosquities! Yukk!
7. Annoyed, you took a picture (see attached) with the intent of showing to management
8. You get ready, go down, show your annoyance to the receptionist. He says "cant do much, sometimes the window is left open and mosquitoes come in"
9. You yell at the receptionist and remind him that you have paid 169 Euros a night for this hotel
10. Annoyed you go to the restaurant to have breakfast - pay 15 Euros for this
11. You take your breakfast and when you break the boiled egg, you realize that it's completely raw

You just get up and walk away... pay all your bills and get out.

That's this hotel for you! Now you can decide....
