“A fine old beauty in the heart of the old town”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

We spent two nights in this gorgeous, rambling grand sort of place. Spread across two, possibly three fine old houses, with hidden courtyards and shaded places. Verdant in parts with dusty antiques on aged tiles and although a little cracked in places, this patina of age all added to the charm of the place. The large bedrooms had comfortable beds, the showers were powerful and the receptionist friendly and helpful. We were just a couple of minutes from Sanlúcar's main covered market, main square, as well close to manzanilla bodegas and of course a slew of bars and restaurants. Incredible value and desirable place in a perfect spot

They change a room booked more than 2 months before the day before your wedding, take your mistake but the only solution is to give their spare room because yours have other clients the promises you call the manager with a better solution, ends his turn and passes you, ask for a complaint form and give an obsolete format for more than five years, I return to speak to the manager and ..... surprise! up, for what is seen in a 3-star hotel is very normal to observe the cleaning (which eats a brown do not have to eat), because there is no one on site to resolve the issue if, in Anyway, that's not to say, DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYTHING THAT IS GOOD TO STAY IN THE STREET THE DAY BEFORE YOUR WEDDING, a cordial greeting.

Although this isn't a hotel but more of a guest house, therefore there is no reception as such and it was a little confusing when we first arrived, the setting is just unique and the staff was friendly and helpful. We spoke Spanish so I am not sure how well they are with non Spanish speakers but if you are looking for something different and beautiful, without necessarily having fast wifi or eggs for breakfast then definitely worth staying there. Great place to escape from reality and very interesting history too!

We were recommended this place by a friend and were not disappointed. It´s right in the middle of town near some of the biggest sherry Bodegas in a beautiful old building that takes you back in time. The room was enormous and simply decorated with large comfortable beds. We were woken from one afternoon siesta to some locals practising sevillanas in the building opposite, truly taking you back in time. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, and the owner, Federico very helpful. Sanlucar feels more downtrodden latin american in some ways than Spanish, and this adds to it´s charm, yet the atmosphere here, food and sherry is top quality. Definitely would go back.

After spending a while trying to find the hotel (hidden behind a dusty carpark off a dual carriageway) and not the most welcoming arrival, we got up to our room and were pleasantly surprised. High, beamed ceilings, in a cool welcoming room. The bar area is good, the pool captures the sun brilliantly. although there aren't many sunbeds, and despite being woken up by the pigeons in the eaves, we enjoyed staying here. Also, only 5-10 mins walk from the main square, and great service from most staff.

Room Tip: Only 1 room with a balcony, so ask for it.

Location in old part of downtown. 5 min walk to fortress, manzanilla museum and Bodega Barbadillo (it was important for me).
My aim was to find an authentic place to stay in SdB. Posada de Palacio is absolutely what I looked for. Decorated in old Spanish style with nice old furniture and graphics at walls. Corridors, halls and gardens which are crossing in sophisticated manner and make me feel Posada twice bigger than it really is. Such architecture makes each walk through Posada pleasant and interesting. Incredible terrace on the roof. Very lovely place.
It was my impression. When I droved car from SdB to Tarifa, me and my girlfriend said “Charming! The best!…” But my mother said “Not the best. Wardrobe was not big enough, small shelves for suitcases. Breakfast good, but nothing special”. I said “Really? It passed out of my sight”.
So, if wardrobes are your priority – please be careful, all the other people - welcome!

Location and building are exceptional. Then the staff are really helpful and charming. We've been allowed to extend checkout for 7 hours for free (one of us had a injury) and advised all the time about local bars, special manzanilla bottlings...Thanks Ester, Sergio and the rest of the team. We will be back.

Room Tip: I had one of the suites on the street side but did not notice any noise at all. Room was so big, cha...
