Never again. Overpriced and the food was terrible. We ordered the seafood rice and clams - both too salty. The waiting staff have attitudes.

With beachside position this traditional fish restaurant is very popular at weekends so lunch early. Stew of mixed fish was excellent. Service is relaxed but well paced.

The place is just horrible, the food is really expensive and the treat was under the expectation. The worst thing was the price/ quality relationship, the fish was not fresh and rice with a lot of salt.

Worth walking a little further along the river to get to Casa Juan. We had a fantastic lunch - paella mariscos and arroz con langostinos - and some manzanilla sherry. Really great ambience and filled with Spanish people. and all for a bargain 64 euros for 4. We also tried huevas

There is a great deal of choice at Bajo de Guia in Sanlucar with a dozen restaurants in a row vying for your custom. We chose Casa Juan randomly - not too busy and not too empty on a Saturday lunchtime in October. The food was great, really fresh Frito Variada to share as a starter with anchovies, salmonitas, dog fish bites and some tiny flat fish. For our main courses we had two versions of monkfish - grilled on a brocheta and in the local Sanluquen sauces of onions, garlic and tomatoes. Total bill including aperitifs, wine and coffees was €55 -not bad at all. Great views of the estuary and the landing craft ferrying 4x4s over to the nature reserve opposite. Well worth a visit but I'm sure their nearby competitors are just as good.
