Le Jardin Gourmand (note spelling if searching) is an excellent restaurant with a beautiful garden, a few steps from the terminal station for the Steam train de Cevennes. Worth the extra walk into the main town past the tourist traps by the station. We'd been aiming for the nearby crêperie (which was closed), but this was an excellent find.
I had an excellent grantinée de brandade – the salt cod nice and meaty with plenty of garlic and seasoning - good value for 9.90. The salad of warm chestnuts was slightly less impressive, with rather too much bacon. Salad of the day (petit pain aux legumes) was a 'cake' of vegetables with a pretty selection of grilled vegetables and a local sausage at only 7.90 euros.
A glass of house rosé at 2 euros for 25cl was sensational value.
