Smashing little bar. No fuss local food the baked goats cheese is a must. We were in here most nights for a Sherry nightcap and they really looked after us.

“Great little place”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

We spend two months in Spain every year since 2010. This is one of the best places where we have eaten in Spain. The meal was simply delicious. We had fried goat cheese, garlic shrimp with homemade cake with the red house wine, which was exceptionally good for 8 euros. The total cost for the meal with wine and including taxes was 36 euros for the two of us. The place is extremely friendly. We sat on the patio where there were orange and lemon trees. I asked the owner if they were eatable. Before we left he climbed on a chair and gave us two oranges and two lemons. Not only were they eatable, they were delicious.

“Hidden away”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

This is a nice bar/restaurant at the back of the little village of Zuheros. It's an ideal place for lunch if you've enjoyed a walk in the nearby Bailon Gorge and are returning to the village by walking down the main road from the Cave of the Bats (Murcielagos). You drop right down next to it. It's well away from the tourist traps on the main square, which suffer from pretty indifferent service in my experience. The food here is excellent, reasonably priced and served with a smile. Try eating out on the terrace at the back - it's a suntrap, and a charming place to spend an hour or two.

“Cheese to die for...”
Reviewed 1 June 2013 via mobile

We stopped of here after a walk around the breathtaking gorge of zuheros. The village is an unspoilt 'white village' in the most stunning detting of towering limestone crags complete with vultures and eagles. Atalaya is an unassuming place: it has a cool patio area, warm welcome, ice cold beer and... The best cheese plate I have ever eaten, and i am a total cheese freak! A beautiful selection of exquisite cheeses, mainly goat, all local and all proudly described to us. That's all we had but on the cheese alone I'm rating the food a 5! Thank god for statins!
