The house is very close to the fishing port and rock pools for crab, mussel and oyster catching. Beach a few minutes further away - not much left at high tide. Good cafe along promenade and lovely to sit and watch the sun go down, or Michelin starred restaurant just at the end of the road. Local markets are very good (La Plaine, Préfailles). The house is comfortable and well equipped, though quite open plan. Veranda lovely and great for the nightly fish barbecue. Unfortunately local agent took a long time with the handover at beginning and end of stay and took some persuading to accept a credit card as security (rather than 400 euros cash). 2 bike loan security also 200 euros - many do cycle but bread at campsite a short walk away so no need.
Getting there - one hour south of Nantes on smaller roads, at least 7 hours' drive to Nantes from Calais so long day. Also, house is not in centre of La Plaine but coastal village (part of La Plaine area), a few fields from centre and quite hard to find in the dark. Drive or cycle to centre of La Plaine (church, tourist office, boulangerie, market, evening concerts etc).
