We holidayed here in Summer 2013 and had a fantastic stay. This is a great campsite for families with you children as it has pools and a small playground on site. The beach is just a short walk from the site across the dunes and is great when the tide is out as small rocky areas are revealed which kept the children entertained. We stayed with Keycamp in a Villanova mobile home and although basic, it has everything that is needed to make the stay comfortable (covers for bedding / towels are extra, so either request these or take your own). The site was very friendly and the children made plenty of friends. Just a short distance from the campsite (left down a track as you exit the site) is a small supermarket which is good for basic shopping, but there is a Super U in the resort area and a large Hyper U in St. Hilaire-de-Riez, a short drive away and easy to find. The area is great for cycling with plenty of routes and tracks through the forests which surround the area. We also did the Velo-Rail and I would really recommend this as it is a novel thing to do - you cycle special cyclecars along 10km of disused railway line running through the country side. Booking is essential in high summer. We had an evening slot which was actually a nice time to go as the heat of the day had past. (ensure your passengers have warm clothes though as our children (3 & 6) got cold towards the end as they weren't doing the exercise!) We also went to Zoo des Sables which was a good way to pass a rainy morning, but I think older children may not be overly impressed as it's quite small and I think their website makes it look better than it actually is. We heard good things about the safari place near Challans, but didn't visit ourselves. The resort is very much about the forests, beaches, cycling etc and the towns aren't attractice, but nearby places that are nice to visit are Sion-sur-L'Ocean and St. Gilles. The beach at St.Jean de Mont is an expanse of flat sand, but the streets surrounding it are full of tourist tat and flashing neon lights - we found that the beach opposite the campsite was more interesting for the children.
We used the Keycamp kids club on a couple of occasions and went to the disco evening - both were enjoyed. The area has plenty of activites to keep kids of all ages entertained, but I would say that the campsite is probably best suited to under 12s.
We had a brilliant time and didn't have anything to fault and would definitely visit again.

This was our first time camping for a summer holiday as a family. Trying it out to see what it was like against all-inclusives like Thomson. In summary, we would definitely do it again but there are some watchouts for any first timers, or any people visiting this campsite.

The campsite is in a lovely spot just a short walk from the beach. The pool is great, although it is unclear as to why they feel they can't put more beds out. There are a mix of chairs and beds, which get taken pretty quickly in the morning. I don't agree with what some people have said about people hogging beds, the gates open at 1020-30am and there are generally still some available up to 11. Then when people go for lunch, most people pass on the beds to other people around the pool.

We have kids, 5 and 2, they loved the slides, but the pools were relatively cold given the time of year, which put them off going back in and out too much. Although they spent alot of time in the pools. The slides are perfectly safe for kids going down and our 5 year old went down all of them himself.

The campsite is surprisingly clean and the Eurocamp team were really welcoming and helpful. It is quite shaded, but agree with some people that there isn't a huge amount of outdoor space for the kids to play in. But as the campsite is small the amount of cars moving around was low so no real problems.

The home we had was great, although slightly claustrophobic after 12 nights. Would recommend to anyone that they get decking as it is a great place to set up breakfast in the morning and just relax until you are ready to get into the day.

The few downsides:

- Noise: you can hear the campsite next door and their terrible mix of techno + karaoke. It does mean inside the mobile homes it can feel quite noisy.
- Evenings for the kids: the bar area does get really busy and cramped. To be honest, apart from the occassional disco there isn't much to do. There are quizzes and bingo, but we'd hoped for something a bit more interesting than that.
- The beds around the pool as mentioned above.

Apart from that we'd recommend it to anyone thinking of camping. Lots to do locally, great site, and lovely families.

We've just come back from our third visit to this excellent site in the southern Vendee. We stayed in our own motorhome on one of their level fully serviced pitches with electric, water & drainage. Most of the pitches were occupied by either caravans, tents , camper vans or motor homes whilst about three quarters of the site is given over to static caravans of the euro camp type. The site is immaculately kept with spotless showers/loos & wash locks.

The real beauty of this site is that it is quite small but has facilities that rival much larger sites, a fantastic pool complex, nice bar, shop, takeaway, tennis court, playground & much more. There was a good range of evening entertainment for those who want it, two discos each week, quiz, x box dancing etc but it was never noisy and even though we always go in peak August holidays, we always manage to get a sun lounger around the pool. Directly across the road you walk straight onto a really long safe sandy beach.

The Vendee itself is probably not the most interesting area of France but for virtually guaranteed good weather it is the closest to the UK. We usually take a ferry into Cherbourg and even at the leisurely pace of a motorhome we get there in about 5 hours, a car would probably do it in 4.
We had 10!days of temperatures in the high 20's and mostly blue skies.

We take bikes and there is a cycle track all along the coast, a trip to St Gille De Croix is well worth the efforts.

Our kids now 9 & 11 always find other children to play with as the majority of the people on site are Brits.

500m along the road is a big waterpark called Atlantic Taboggan with some massive slides and flumes , this is usually our kids favourite day of the holiday although this year a family ticket for four had risen to 70 euro.


In short I would highly recommend this site to anyone.
