“Excellent hosts for a week in Meribel”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

Just back from a week of being superbly looked after by Heather, Andy and Hannah in their lovely chalet in Les Allues.

They couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming with our group of 13, and looked after us - and our individual dietary requirements - brilliantly.

They're very happy to share their knowledge of the area and pistes, and there love for food was evident in every meal. Every night was different and surpassed the night before! I second the vote for a Chalet St Joseph cookbook!

I hadn't experienced quite this level of service at a ski chalet before - organising our ski hire (dropped off and picked up, no less!), lift passes and ensuring we were always on time for first lifts.

Would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate in returning.

Andy, Heather and Hannah were brilliant hosts for the week and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. From the first email to leaving day, every response was quick and they helped us out with everything we needed. It was brilliant to turn up on Saturday morning with the hire kit waiting for us, our lift passes ready and the kettle on.

The food for the week was lovely; proper filing home cooked food and the cakes in the afternoon were always excellent when we weren't too full to eat them. Steer clear of lunchtime fondue overdose to make sure you can properly enjoy the food at the chalet!

Lifts up and down the mountain got us to the pistes for first lift every day and were flexible if we finished a bit earlier or wanted to stay up in Meribel for a few beers after. The jacuzzi is great, lovely and warm and a good size. Rooms are simple but clean, comfortable and warm. We ended up with the whole main floor for our party of 4 which was brilliant.

All in all, excellent value and a perfect week away. We will be back!

We were a party of 2 adults and 5 grown up kids plus 2 little dogs, we had a fantastic xmas and new year fornight with heather andy and hannah, they couldnt do enough for us with everything from helping us book vets appointments for the dogs passports to advising the kids on the best entertainment spots , best watering holes and places to eat there knowledge was imense! The food was fantastic with a few fussy easters in the party no one was dissapointed xmas dinner was devine we enjoyed every meal we ate we think alpine ethos should bring out their own cookery book... id buy one!! The apartments we stayed in were very clean and spacious for a large family , we loved les allures a pretty little town with a great bar and a few nice restaurants , meribel was brilliant to we enjoyed the skiing and the free new years eve party was a big hit with the whole family with buses laid on to take you home again at no cost it was very well organised and the fireworks at midnight were amazing. I would definatly stay at alpine ethos again it was great value for money and excellent service with a smile a big thumbs up from us !

We were a family of eight adults who spent the new year in Andy and Heather's place. I  have skimmed through a number of the other reviews of Chalet St Joseph and can only concur with all of the positive observations.
The service was superb. All the ski gear brought on site and, each morning, loaded for us in to the people carrier. Ready to roll ahead of the crowds. And there was a very punctual pick-up in the evenings. Flexibility too about the timing.
I loved the friendly, homely atmosphere in the chalet. And boy, did I like the gourmet food. Too, I must comment on how genuinely willing Andy and Heather were in sharing their extensive knowledge of the region. They had good tips to give on places to eat, ski runs to be recommended, pleasant hiking trails for the non skiing member of our party. They loaned us detailed maps, extra hiking poles, knee support bandages.. You name it, they had a solution.
The chalet is very clean. The  rooms are basic and the beds are extremely comfortable. The village, Les Allues, has character and, for my book, is more pleasant to stay in than 15 minutes up the road in the main resort. A sauna and hot tub downstairs. Pub and a couple of restaurants nearby - needed only on staff day off.
Must also mention Hannah, the "chalet girl". She too is a cheerful, fun, hard working and competent girl. Got practice in learning how to pour beer!
All in all I have no hesitation in recommending this chalet.
Oh, and did I mention Andy's dry humour?

This was a holiday where almost everything was thought about for us and, on the very odd occasion where it wasn't (usually because it was unforeseen by us), nothing was ever any bother. We have had a great week with Andy, Heather and Hannah. As part of a party of 17 with 9 children/teenagers we have simply been looked after. That is the essence of hospitality and, as a result of that, everybody had a fantastic time. While that hospitality was delivered with great professionalism, it never felt distant. The chalet is very comfortable and big enough for everyone to have space and for adults to eat (the delicious food) in relative peace and quiet until the drink clicked in! All our arrangements (ski hire, lessons, passes etc.) worked perfectly and Andy and Heather were very generous with their shuttle bus runs for the, just more than two, loads we represented, the wait for their bus at the end of the day being no hardship and providing a minor early season boost to the Meribar's profits. That just left us to have a good time and we did.

We are a company in the area and use local chalets for our guests and clients (and friends and family). Alpine Ethos are the company we use the most. Heather and Andy are the perfect hosts, extremely flexible, professional and efficient; The chalet and apartment is perfectly spacious, always clean, and well appointed.

Les Allues isn't right at the heart of the ski area, but Ethos run a pick-up and drop-off service and there are free buses running all day and are frequent. There are a couple of pubs and restaurants in the village and a little shop.

Having run a hotel in the centre of Meribel, I can assure readers that convenience is traded off for sleepless nights, Meribel centre is very noisy!

Room Tip: To be honest the rooms are all decent level.

We had a fantastic summer holiday at the chalet. It was our first holiday with our little girl so we were a bit nervous! It was a very relaxing break for us. We were collected from the airport and the chalet had lots of useful equipment, such as a travel cot, so we had less to pack. The food was delicious and there was always plenty! The surrounding area is beautiful and perfect for walking. We can't wait to return in the winter season and hopefully take our little girl to the slopes for a ski! Heather and Andy are perfect hosts, very understanding for families with a baby and I would recommend this chalet to anyone.
