We'd never booked or even thought of booking a fully catered Chalet and somehow in my tripadvisor search I stumbled onto Chalet St Joseph and can't tell you what a gem this is! Heather and her husband Andy are the owners and handled our booking/ski rental and ski passes all via email so that when we arrived we were ready to go! This is a little snippet of how wonderful our week was.

We were driving over from Chamonix on Saturday and on Friday night there was a giant boulder that ended up blocking the road which turned our 2hr drive into 6hrs of bumper to bumper traffic. I kept in contact with Heather who kept us informed and when we arrived at 1am Stuart was there to greet us, help us with our luggage and even had dinner, dessert and beers ready and waiting. The next morning we awoke at different times and Slide Candy which handled our ski equipment came out to the chalet 3 separate times to make sure all our equipment fit.

We were in one of the apartments that sleeps 6 and it was roomy with a great balcony and a separate toilet and bath. There were only 3 of us so we enjoyed all the space. They provide you with a carton of milk, tea bags and coffee in your chalet which we took advantage of all day. There's a fully stocked kitchen if you want to make your own snacks but I doubt you'll ever use it. The heaters work great and it's doesn't take long to warm the apartment. You only get 1 towel for the week so make sure you take good care of your towel!

Every morning there was fresh coffee and a different kind of hot meal being served in the common area. Stuart and Emma always had yogurt, fresh bread, cereals and fruit available on the table. There was a group of 11 taking up the rest of the chalet but it worked well. They would put a board out of what our 3 course meal would be that evening so if you had any dietary requirements, Stuart and Emma would have enough time to accommodate your requests. The afternoon tea and cake was served in the common room and it would have been nice to have some cake set aside and left in our apartment as it was a bit awkward since the large group staying in the chalet at the same time took over the common area and huddled around the afternoon treats which is understandable for a group of that size.

The food is fabulous!!! All three courses every night were spot on, delicious and includes wine :)

They provide shuttle service but my Fiancee and our friend were late risers so we just drove up to the middle of Meribel and parked in the underground parking right at the lifts and paid about 10€ a day and skied all day everyday! We never took advantage of the ski bus stop but it looked about a 5-8 minute walk away from the chalet and there's also a gondola that will take you all the way into Meribel but that's about a 15 minute walk.

Our friend enjoyed the Sauna and Jacuzzi but make sure you turn it on or have them turn it on right when you get back from skiing because it takes awhile to warm up. They don't have it available after dinner which would have been nice.

Stuart and Emma took such great care of us, made fabulous food and were wonderful hosts!!! We had to leave at 7a to drive back to Geneva and that evening Stuart brought us up some bacon rolls to take with us the next morning and they both woke up early to see us off. Although it's located in Les Allues it's the perfect location with pubs and restaurants within a short walk and we're already planning our ski vacation there for next year! Fantastic stay!!! Thanks so much :)

There's no cable T.V. They provide you with boardgames, DVD's and a Wii in the apartment but we like to watch T.V. at night and that's the only thing I could say that I hope they add. The wifi works great though!!

We wanted a skiing holiday where we could stay in a chalet and take our dogs. After searching high and low I found Alpine Ethos and I am so pleased I did. With regards to the booking they couldn't have been more helpful. We needed to book our dogs into the vets before we came home - they did this for us. Food was great - all home made. We stayed in the apartment so had full use of our own kitchen - they even supplied the tea and coffee. They run a free shuttle to the slopes however as we had the dogs and our own car we made our own way back and forth the slopes. We enjoyed it so much we are planning our return.

We were a group of 13 staying in Chalet St Joseph, the Chalet itself is well equipped, clean and tidy with delicious food. However Alpine Ethos added something extra to this holiday that I have never experienced before and after. Having traveled with ski companies from Scott Dunn, Neilson to Powder White the service Alpine Ethos provided was phenomenal, from arranging a birthday cake, incredible transfer prices, decorating the chalet for our superhero party, discounts with local companies and restaurants, and above all their daily updates on the best slopes for the time of year and skiing conditions ensured this ski holiday was the best I've ever had!

Visiting a 'Ski Chalet' in the summer is a trick which us Brits don't use enough. Chalet St Joseph sits in the now peaceful village of Les Allues, surrounded on all sides by beautiful views and well marked walking/running/biking trails. And after a day running or trekking the slopes coming back to Andy's cooking is such a treat. Usually after a beer in the hot tub of course! Andy's local knowledge helped us find great trails and a cracking little lake to sunbathe around and swim in. And we've come back with plenty of his recipes to try and recreate at home.

A wonderfully relaxing holiday with wonderful hosts, we'll be back.

Just back from a fantastic week skiing in Meribel, staying in Chalet St Joseph in charming Les Allues run by Heather and Andy. It was so refreshing staying in an independently run chalet, run by great hosts who really care about your stay. We were a mixed group of 4 so had the larger apartment, which was fantastic to give us our own space whilst coming together to eat with everyone in the main chalet - this gave us the best of both worlds. The chalet is kept spotless and the cooking is far superior to all other chalets I've stayed in with large package tour operators. Plus you get real local knowledge from Heather and Andy. Although Les Allues is a little way down the valley from central Meribel, it is a really pretty old French village that is lovely and quiet. Good for receding to after the lively Meribel apres!!!!

Room Tip: If you are 4, the larger apartment with the mezanine.
