My wife and I traveled with another couple for a week in Germany. We booked one night at the Hotel Wilhelmshöhe; right after our first trip to the Nürburgring.
We pulled into the parking lot completely unannounced; one of the owners–Jackie–greeted us at the door. From that moment until checkout, the stay was *completely* stress-free. Jackie showed us to our rooms, and then served us dinner afterwards.
Dinner (cooked by Jackie's husband) was phenomenal; possibly the best in our week in Germany and Switzerland. The ladies in the group ordered schnitzel; a few minutes after the order was placed, we heard the pork being pounded flat. Clearly, the food was fresh. And delicious.
The hotel is modern, spacious, and clearly well-kept. All four of us loved the accommodations, and quickly wondered why we didn't book more than one night there.
Breakfast was delicious, including pastries, many homemade jams, yogurt, and granola (with most ingredients grown locally), and more. We ended up taking home a jar of jam, because it was so good.
The hotel/restaurant were also absurdly cheap given the treatment we got. When we left, I wanted to give Jackie a hug, since she made us feel like we had known her for years.
If you're within an hour of the hotel Wilhelmshöe, do yourself a favor, and stay there. You won't regret it.
