... the isolated location in the Madonie mountains, rustic ambience, quirky large dining and relaxing areas with many interesting Sicilian artifacts to enjoy, including traditional puppets, and old still and 7 different cow, sheep & goat bells,. Very good evening meals (Sicilian style set menus).

Black night skies full of stars. Splendidly quiet. Staff welcoming and very helpful. Room basic but comfortable and clean. Stayed for 4 nights with a group of botanists. I'd love to return ... and maybe see the Hoopoe we heard calling.

A very strange experience. Stayed here for 2 nights in May when on a walking tour of the Madonie Mountains. Huge hotel but very few guests. Consequently, the staff had few distractions other than us so were constantly hovering to make sure we were OK. This more difficult because they spoke little English and we spoke little Italian. Our bedroom was very disappointing. The bedcover was ripped and very dated. The shower grungey and there was a hole in the wardrobe door where someone had presumably crashed something into it. The bedroom walls are thin - could hear somone in the next room snoring for most of the night. Very budget. On the upside, the views were lovely, the evening meals delicious (regional, seasonal cooking) and the breakfasts adequate. Hotel Pomieri sits alone in what feels like the middle of nowhere. Even though the road passes in front of the driveway there are very few vehicles that seem to use it. There is no wifi.

We stayed in this hotel during a walking tour of the Parc de Madonie in 2011. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. We spent some time exploring the surroundings. We saw a number of wild boars with their litter. The hotel was rustic and very charming. At the time, in early November, it was not very busy. Even though we came very late for lunch the staff and kitchen willingly prepared a lunch for us. Dinner was very good. I would especally like to point out the extremely charming hotel manager who really went out of his way to make sure we had a good start on the next leg of our tour. The first stretch was clearly visible from the hotel and we almost felt that we was looking after us through the hotel's telescope!

Wonderfully located atmospheric hotel. Being there felt like a different epoch (somehow it had a vibe of "Death in Venice" film), maybe it helped that we were the only guests there. Service was absolutely superb. The two gentlemen working there befriended a wild fox, who would come for supper - another magical accent. The view from very large terrace was breathtaking, the terrace itself - excellent place to read. There was a road next to the hotel, but we didn't see/hear a single car passing. Room was very basic but comfortable. Breakfast - typically Italian, so without fireworks.

Stayed two nights in September when participating in round trip around Sicily. The trip was a walking trip, with our longest walk of 18 kms in this area. There are endless possibilities for hiking and bird watching.

The hotel is a cozy family hotel, with spacious rooms, although not urban hotel quality. Still, clean and have a wonderful view over the mountains. The personnel is very nice and professional, tasty Italian food was served every night.

In mid May of 2008, my husband and I stayed one night at the Hotel Pomieri located near Piano Battaglia (a winter ski area) in Parco delle Madonie deep in the Central Sicilian Madonie Mountains. It is a rustic, chalet type hotel with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from its terraces. The hills and valleys around it were covered with a vast variety of wildflowers, including a number of tiny orchids special to the area.
The lobby has a ski resort feeling with wood paneled walls and a large fireplace. The bedrooms were fairly plain, but comfortable. Dinner was composed of simple dishes typical of the region. Although there were not many others staying at the hotel while we were there, it is set up for large groups. The staff was friendly and helpful.
