We were a party of 16 who stayed for a long weekend. Plenty of space, fantastic views, everything you could think of provided -wood burner, games room, sauna. Very comfy rooms - good well equipped kitchen.
Will definitely be returning -highly recommended.
3/11/17 Just been here for 3 nights 14 people fitted in won problem perfect cannot find any faults
Everything was spot on games room. Sauna. Wood burner fire everything you need in the kitchen just a perfect place
When we walked in all we could say was wow beautiful converted chapel modern but beautifully done the views were stunning. Plenty of room for family holiday or friends every bedroom was ensuite. The kitchen was well equipped with every thing you need.plenty of lovely walks and places to visit the old slate mines the nearest . For the adventurous visit Zip World where you can try Velocity the longest in Europe and fastest in the world or nearby Titan which I did and was the best thing I have ever done
Capel Dinorwig is light and airy chapel conversion which is situated over the lake from Llanberis. It started life as a Calvinist Methodist chapel (1825-1980) but was converted into a holiday home in 2013.
It really does provide a great base for walking and exploring the North Wales coast (you can walk Snowdon from here) whilst featuring many creature comforts.
LOCATION: Whilst it is set in some stunning countryside we all struggled to find it using the postcode in the satnav. Therefore I'd suggest that you use the directions provided instead.
ACCOMMODATION: The Middle floor (accessed at ground level from the rear of the property) provides open plan living which accommodates a lounge, kitchen, dining room and one en suite bedroom (large double). Since it is open plan then sound does travel and it can be a little noisy but you do get used to it.
The Top floor boasts 2 twin bedrooms with a shared bathroom in the eves.
The Lower floor accommodates 5 bedrooms (3 double & 2 twin with en suite - only one has a bath, the rest have showers), a play room (table tennis, table football and TV), a laundry and a sauna.
ACCESS: There doesn't appear to be any wheelchair access but those with mobility issues could probably be accommodated in the one bedroom on the middle floor. (3 steps).
FURNITURE: Dining table etc are made from old pews and look great. Bedroom furniture seems to be sourced from Ikea.
PARKING: Parking for 5 cars with ease.
WI-FI: It's OK but don't expect high speeds.
HEATING: We never did get to grips with the heating and so we turned it off and opneed the one upstairs window that we could access (top floor).
CHILDREN: This would be OK for children since there are 3 child guards that can be installed to keep them away from the stairs (from an adults prospective I'd suggest removing them, if there are no children, as they add an extra lip to the top of the stairs)
FOOD SHOPPING: There is a Cost Cutter in the next village, another Cost Cutter at the Texaco station on A4244, small stores in Llanberis or a Tesco Extra in Bangor.
LAUNDRY: Previous week's dirty sheets and towels are stored here for washing early in the following week. We weren't disturbed by the work.
SAUNA: In our experience there is room for 6 people, at any one time, in comfort
OTHER: There are some really nice touches; a piano, an OS map centred on the property, a supply of dish washer tablets, coffee, tea and Welsh cakes (to say welcome).
ATTACHED HOUSE: Is also a holiday let.
DO REMEMBER that most bedrooms are downstairs so don't be surprised if there is someone walking just outside your window when you open the curtains.
All in all it's a great place to spend a week. Enjoy.
Arrived Easter Saturday a big WOW when we went in what an amazing place.Bright plenty of space wonderful views from the large windows. outside lovely walks great when you have a very active springer spaniel .Everything in the kitchen you needed the 2 ovens a bonus.Games room and the sauna were well used walk in showers en suite also a bonus. The easter egg and the branch decorated for Easter was a lovely touch.Would recommend watching the d.v.d with a record of the start and finish of the renovation.Only one small complaint no mirrors in the bedrooms. All the family agreed after a lovely week would love to return.
This is a fabulous property but after a long hard walk in Snowdonia I want a hot shower! Sorry but hot water is a must! The first night I had to boil a kettle for a strip wash and the second day even though I was one of the first of our party to take a shower it wasn't hot.
We had a wonderful family holiday at Capel Dinorwig, 3 children, 3 teenagers and 7 adults all had a lovely break. Walks in Snowdonia, trips to some of the Zip World sites, the Slate museum and Caernarfon Castle all with a warm, clean and comfortable base to return to.
Would highly recommend :)
