Stayed in the hotel on the dates below and to tell you the truth I found them a total "CON". MAKE SURE THAT YOU PAY BY CREDIT CARD AND NOT BY CASH (See reason below).
Booked our accomodation through a website www.booking.com (They were very helpful and would definitely use them again) for to stay in the “Kartauser Hof” hotel for the nights dated 11 & 12 April 2013 and we confirmed booking by authorising a credit card number. We received confirmation of booking through www.booking.com . On the 07/03/13 we received an email to say that the “Kartauser Hof” hotel was double booked on the night of the 12 April and that they had found alternative accommodation in their sister hotel the “Landhotel St. Gereon” which was approximately 3 kilometres away. We agreed with this and were happy to take the alternative accommodation.
We arrived in the “Kartauser Hof” hotel on the 11 and checked out on the morning of the 12. When checking out we were requested to pay for the night of the 11 which we were expecting. The “Kartauser Hof” hotel also requested a payment for the night of the 12 April for the second hotel the “Landhotel St. Gereon” which was a very unusual request as normally you do not pay for accommodation until the morning after the stay (Weather had turned bad with heavy snowfall which I presume is the reason for charging us for the second night). When I offered my credit card for payment I was told the machine was not working and we had to pay cash €278.40.(Bigger fool me!) We requested a receipt for the payment which we were told they would email to us for both hotels as they owned both the hotels. After a number of requests for an invoice we received one for the hotel “Kartauser Hof” (€139.20) but we are still waiting on a receipt for the “Landhotel St. Gereon”.
Have requested on numerous occasions a receipt for the “Landhotel St. Gereon” and the "Kartäuser Hof" hotel but they have refused to answer my calls and emails. I did not mind paying for the second night but I am very disappointed how we have been treated in relation to a request for an invoice for something that we had already paid for. Also the accomodation was 4 out of 10, breakfast was very poor regarding selection and quality.
