Spent 3 nights here at LKP160,000 a night. Nice setting with rooms facing onto a garden. The restaurant overhangs the Mekong and serves really good food and has a bit more on the menu than the average Lao menu. The view from the verandah was outstanding watching little local boats zipping to and from across the waterways, and the sunsets too beautiful. The room was clean, big with a comfortable king size bed, (not the normal Lao concrete mattress variety) A/C, mosquito net + fan. The towels were bigger than average hotel towels in length. On the negative side, there were no hanging facilities at all and the curtains came up short in width on both tinted windows by 150mm (6”) meaning people passing by could see in if the lights were on at night (we overcame this with a sarong and pegs) The owners were very helpful and friendly, but the staff could do with some lessons in smiling. They always seemed surly no matter who they were serving. The bathroom was adequate, but again remember to leave the toilet paper outside when showering, due to a lack of a shower curtain. We walked up and down both the ‘sunrise’ and ‘sunset’ sides of the island and it was the only modern looking brick accommodation we came across (others mostly wooden huts).
