We are celebrating our honeymoon. We arrive Dec. 27th (about a week after opening) We choose this sandals to experience a new resort, knowing that it would be a soft opening. We took a risk and so far so good. They even gave the first month guest a free week, which is great PR.

We arrived to several staff greeting us like royalty. We were checked in quickly and are the first to stay in our beach walkout room. The room is spacious and well decorated. Our hair dryer didn't work but was quickly fixed. The bed is large and comfy. The shower is amazing with luxurious fittings. Yes the magnifying mirror is too high for most and the TV is too low to enjoy in bed (due to the high sled footboard) but I have every faith they will fix all these soon enough. Another note is our walk out porch door doesn't lock from the outside which means you must leave it unlocked or go around the back. Not very "walk out" like.
The first night the Mosquitos were quite bad - and no bug spray on the resort made for a lot f bites. They sprayed the resort over night and it seemed to help the second night

The food is amazing so far. Every dish was have tried has been top notch, much like every other sandals. The service is a bit slow but we have no were else to be so find it restful. The booze is premium and they make strong delightful drinks.

The beach is great, a little wavy but nothing you can't endure. We have been able to get a chair around 10am every morning at the beach, the pool chairs need to be reserved earlier. The double pool chairs at the swim up bar aren't the most comfortable for lounging.

The staff are very gracious and accommodating. Always saying hello or asking if we need anything. Very friendly people!

All in all for a soft opening we are quite enjoying it, and know that it will be a fabulous resort in no time.

Day two and can't wait to see how the rest of the week goes - will update with pictures and such later

It has been 1 week since we checked into Sandals new property in Grenada. We knew that there were delays in getting the resort ready so we were not surprised to find that it was not 100 percent operational. That being said I will try to give you a sense of what it is now, and what it will be. As of today all of the restaurants with the exception of the pizzeria are open. I can say that I have been to many all inclusive resorts including Sandals, iberostar, and club med, as well as cruises on several different lines. The food here has been the best I have experienced. Their chophouse which is unique to this property would be successful in any major city in America. Over the week I have enjoyed Kobe beef, foie gras, lobster, braised lamb shoulder, as well as excellent sushi. The buffet which is available for all meals had a very good variety of foods very well prepared. This is the spice island and the chefs here are incorporating the local spices into their creations. From the standpoint of dining they have hit the ground running. There is still some landscaping that needs to be done , and there are some operational issues that need to be fine tuned, but the staff is on top of it. The people working here are truly wonderful. They are very friendly and are very eager to please. Despite some of the early hiccups we have had a very nice time and we would return . The company is acutely aware that they opened before everything was completely ready and everyone staying between December 21 and January 12 is apparently getting a free sandals vacation. They have said I will be contacted about this after return home. If this turns out not to be the case I will update this review. I believe that once they have everything up and running here to their standards and the standards of their guests this will be the jewel in the crown of the Sandals properties.

I arrived here on Dec 22 with my family (husband and kids age 22 & 18) with much anticipation since the resort delayed opening 2 weeks beyond its original opening date. (This is our 3rd Sandals/beaches vacation). We were among the first guests to arrive. We are very experienced travelers having traveled to many countries on many kinds of vacations from all inclusive resorts, cruises, spa, hiking and adventure, high luxury and cycling trips. We must say this trip has offered us a chance to get a true "insiders look" at the challenges of the hotel and hospitality industry. This is not only due to being present at its opening, but also because of the ongoing construction, the challenging topography and layout of the resort. We have had a chance to mingle with local staff, management and Sandals corporate top brass as the resort still is undergoing construction to some areas and it's infrastructure. So here is our assessment: We have been very impressed with staff and management - they have been exceedingly friendly, accommodating, and professional. They are going out of their way to interact with guests and solicit their opinions and feedback on the resort. It is because of THESE WONDERFUL STAFF PEOPLE that the guests are having a great time despite the ongoing construction. The Grenadian people are some of the most friendly and sweet people I have ever met. Grenada is an island that is beautiful: mountainous and lush with beaches that offer great diving and snorkeling. All of this is a rare commodity in the Caribbean today. So why do I give 4 (and not 5) stars to this property (this is independent of the incompleteness of the property)? It has to do with some design and infrastructure issues that I think have to be improved. I do think this will be a flagship Sandals resort once it is complete and they also work out problems with storm drainage and guest room appointments . The guest rooms are chic and modern, and while swank looking, they are not outfitted very practically for guests. Management has been very anxious to hear feedback from guests so they can address these issues with the design team. Guests have pointed out that the magnification (makeup) mirrors are mounted way too high for the average person (one needs to be 6' 4" or taller to use them), and there is no dresser/drawer space in many of the new rooms so one is left to hangers, suitcase living or storing clothing in a desk drawer or stereo console (empty consoles make me think if the designer meant these to be dressers, but there is not shelving in them). Also lighting is the room is poor. ( do note that the village has its own room style so what I state here may not be apply to all the rooms). The beds, while very comfortable, are either mounted very high with no step stool to help negotiate getting in and out of bed, and some other beds are on very low platforms that can be challenging to get in and out of as well. The bathrooms have chic large pedestal or sunken sinks, cool looking, but they offer very little countertop space, and if one wants to use a hair appliance the outlets are near the coffee bar across from the full length mirror (use an appliance with a long cord). I believe there will be come changes made as a result of this feedback. At this time the fitness area is still not completed, and I estimate it will be 6 months before it it fully operational (if one includes the Olympic size pool that is supposed to be built and dedicated only to water fitness). However, it is going to be outfitted with all the latest equipment. The Fitness director is an extremely fit and energetic guy whose body inspires one not to drink too many piña coladas! He offers water aerobic classes, power walks and boot camp at this time. There is also a yoga class twice per week. The spa sauna and steam areas are not yet operational. However, the spa area I did experience is chicly serene. I had one of the best deep tissue treatments in my life (combined Thai and deep stroke technique). The food here is exceptional and I must commend the resort of its use of a farm to table approach with prep ( the islands' spices are used in many if it's fresh dishes.) Given the food snob I am I would rate some of the dishes as gourmet quality (their signature pumpkin soup with nutmeg from the island is to die for, organic beef, freshest shrimp and fish, sushi, are all top grade). The bartenders are wonderful and of course Sandals is known for its wide array of luscious tropical concoctions. There are several trip excursions to choose from to get off the property and I think they are reasonably priced. The property's water sports include paddle boating, wind surfing, catamaran sailing, scuba and snorkeling. The tennis courts are not completed yet, and I think there will be two. The main pools are magnificent and accented with whirlpools, a swim up bar, and water volleyball area. This is not to mention the several private infinity or river pools one can chose from around the property. The resort is only 5 minutes drive from the airport, and while that is a major convenience due note that the landing strip is right next to the perimeter of the resort, so jets taking off and landing are loud overhead (jets are in and out on average 3- 4 times per day). This noise interruption is also is what prevents me from rating this 5 star. (However don't let this scare you - it is infrequent and does not deter from all the other lovely attributes of the property). Brides: make sure no flights take off or land during your ceremony! I must also commend Sandals for taking care of its guests through all the detours - we are all getting one week comped for free at most Sandals resorts (including this one). This was certainly appropriate under the challenging accommodation circumstances. We do hope to return here when the property is fully operational and patronize Sandals and Grenada for its hospitality and grace.

Room Tip: The Pink Gin village is the original La Source resort (previous resort) accommodations. While fully renovated, and on the beach, they are the most prone to storm drainage issues. South seas junior suites are a great value even though they do not offer ocean view. They have a private river pool great for relaxing and lap swimming.

My husband and I were at the Sandals La Source Resort for their grand opening and are so impressed by the customer service, beauty of the resort and potential of this Sandals Resort! This is our 4th return to a Sandals Resort and highly recommend this resort! What exceptional customer service, beautiful grounds, beautiful water, minuets from the airport! Everything you fell in love with the first time you stayed at your first Sandals! They have set the bar high, we are returning next year and having our daughters wedding here, we have 9 day's left on this trip and cannot wait to return, this is a resort you must visit!

When you think you have seen it all....... You have not.
Come and see for your self.

Stay tuned for some great pics to follow.

All other Sandals locations be ready to impress or have Sandals La Source eat your lunch.

Regards

Room Tip: All are new, however the quite pool area is to die for, the party pool thus far is out of this world. Have we mentioned the customer service.... SECOND TO NONE.. Already. Thanks to all. Keep posted this is day one of ten. Cheers We have stayed at a number of other Sandals locations which are wonderful but I must say they will need to significantly pick it up to compete with there new counterpart. Don't wait time book now. Cheers

Room Tip: Im Pink Gin Bereich sind die Zimmer fern vom Pool die ruhigeren. Es gibt einen weiteren Pool, hier wird von 10-10 Musik gespielt.
