“A++++ wonderful setting, good rates, great for back packers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2013

Yes, its a bit off the beaten track, but worth the small hike to the huts. Our hut was spacious, had a fan, and a wonderful view of the hillside and Loboc River. Rates are reasonable, food is good and staff friendly. Managers Rita and Chris will suggest lots of money saving trips also. Take an P8 bus to Loboc downtown and there is a good restaurant (super cheap) next to the internet café, just across the street from the old church. Take a P50 bus going to Chocolate Hills, or P8 bus to the Tarsier Sanctuary. THANKS FOR ALL RITA AND CHRIS!
If I may make a suggestion for you backpackers: take a P50 ride to Taglibaran then jeepney to Panglao Island, jeepney to Cabilao Island, stay at a local NIPA HUT run by Hapi. don't spend those big fees at those ritzy resorts there. If Hapi is not there talk to Myrna, she will also cook for you.
Have an awesome Holiday!

Perfect for back packers. Yeah, long way in/out from the main road but the place is nice. You have a nice view of the Loboc River. You can ask for a guided tour as well on trekking a cave nearby. Food was good too most of all, their rates are reasonable.

A film-themed retreat in the middle of the jungle, nuts huts does what it says on the tin. The food is great if a tad pricey by local standards. The herbal sauna (steam room) is rustic and fun. Noisy riverboat kareoke can interrupt the jungle peace but not too much.
Its reached by a 15 min walk via the access road (although this is suitable if you are on a motor/mountain bike) and then lots of steps-as the owners say, they test "what condition your condition is in"
Rooms are available as dorms, doubles or vip doubles. As they are all housed in traditional "nippa huts" noise travels far.
Finally dont forget "its a jungle out there" so there will be bugs, everywhere!

If you have time while travelling and aren't averse to a slightly sweaty trek down from the main road nuts huts is well worth the visit. Yes, there are a lot of steps which aren't a great start to your day but once you get to the restaurant area staff are extremely helpful and welcoming and have a lot of local knowledge. The rooms are clean and comfortable, if slightly basic, with an idyllic location on the river. Nuts huts is a great place to meet fellow backpackers and relax with a few beers in the evening. Also, the food is delicious!

They not only keep raising prices on their incredibly basic rooms, but they're so far off the main road it's difficult just to get there. You end up climbing up and down a never-ending staircase to get down to the huts (the restaurant is half way up). They don't allow you to have any food in the huts and charge you 300 pesos per person if you eat your own food at the restaurant and even more for their meals. They charge ridiculous amounts of money for re-bottled water and even charged me 20 pesos to text someone to come pick me up and bring me into town. Normally I wouldn't fret over 50 cents, but it takes 2 minutes of their time away from their book to help a customer who is paying to stay at their establishment outside of the tourist season! Ever since they were published in the Lonely Planet guidebook, they've turned into a greedy little business that doesn't deserve any of the tourists that come their way. Definitely NOT for the average backpacker on a budget. Biggest waste of time in my entire 8 week trip.

The place i would highly recommend if you're quite flexible with your schedule.on Bohol. Why flexible? Because you need some time to get there (though only like a 45min public bus ride from tagbilaran bus terminal) and because you have to walk 800m to get to the 250 stairs you need.to walk down to get to your.hut. Why recommending it then? Because it is just the perfect relaxing place.where you will feel at home, despite being in a much different place called jungle, sleeping next to the river. The Flemish owners and the staff are both nice and really helpful, meals are ok. They can also help you too book other places like the amazing Mary's cottage on Pamilacan.

This place is all about the location... after a 10 minute walk from the main road down a very bumpy track, you reach a flight of steep concrete steps signalling the entrance to Nuts Huts.

There is a wall of jungle on the steep hill in front and on reaching the eating area it is just beautiful. The location/scenery definitely makes the stay worthwhile as does the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the 'resort'.

The huts themselves are quite basic, and the mattresses could do with a definite upgrade. But hearing the sounds of the jungle each night and waking to an extraordinary view of bright green river water and thick jungle is an amazing experience. Be prepared for insects and lizards. Bring a head torch.

The staff are all very friendly and the owners, Rita and her husband, who we met while there, were extremely helpful and welcoming. The restaurant served delicious food, particularly breakfast - our favourite was the homemade bread and a delicious fruit and muesli mix.

We hired a scooter for a day and travelled around, visiting Chocolate Hills, Tarsier sanctuary and Danao Adventure Park - would recommend all three in a day trip like this. Just make sure you have a map and ask locals at every corner to make sure you are on the right track!

We also swam across the river and up to the waterfall which was pretty special. We were the only two there so made the experience even better. Beautifully refreshing and amazing scenery swimming in the river surrounded by jungle. Nuts Huts also has kayaks to hire.

In summary, we really enjoyed our stay and found spending time in this location to be an unforgettable experience - truly beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Because of the basic nature of the huts, 2 nights was enough. Remember that this is a true 'eco-resort' in the middle of the jungle, don't expect luxury and you wont be disappointed. Do expect a friendly, welcoming vibe, great food, meeting other travellers and stunning scenery. Enjoy.
