“The only way is definitely the road to The Chichester in Essex”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

We booked to stay here as it was conveniently close to a family gathering. The photos on the website didn't really inspire us and when we arrived the car park was almost empty! Now I am a real fan of hotels with free parking but so much? We were welcomed by very friendly staff and were directed to a lovely room which had everything, even an iron and ironing board! We couldn't believe our find as the price for the room was so reasonable. We spent a very pleasurable afternoon sitting in the sunny courtyard sipping wine and listening to the birds, unusual, as most of our Essex hotel experiences is the sound of traffic. We were then met by our son to take us out for dinner ,he lives in Essex and was also impressed with this lovely hotel. When we returned the car park was full. This is a popular evening venue for functions but I must add all the rooms are in a quiet area and therefore had no impact on our visit. This is definitely the hotel we will stay in for future family gatherings perhaps it will be our gathering venue.

Room Tip: All rooms have easy access and close parking at the rear of the hotel.

We booked the hotel for an overnight stay whilst visiting friends nearby. All the staff were friendly and helpful both on reception and in the restaurant. Our room was a good size with tea/coffee making facilities. The decor is very tasteful and the whole hotel is well maintained and very clean with a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was most enjoyable served in the restaurant overlooking the courtyard, nicely cooked, using good quality ingredients. It is set in a very pleasant, semi-rural location. it was a good find and will book again when we are next in the area.

Never really got excited by the photos of Chichester Hotel, but now on my 3rd stay here and it's a fabulous hotel. Down to the details:
a.) I love hotels with a consistent style; So far, all the rooms I've been allocated are same size, same quality, same attention to detail. Very suitable for business visits: a good size bed, tea facilities, good tv, proper bath, shower and reasonable WIFI at £3 for 24hrs. This consistency is great; No risk that I'll turn up and be given an awkward or tiny room.
b.) Checkin. I've stayed at 100s of hotels, and this hotel has the easiest fastest check-in of any hotel. There's no fuss, no delays, just a quick clean check-in by friendly staff.
c.) Ambiance. It feels relaxed. There's a nice sun room bar, an outside courtyard, sitting area by reception and the well sized restaurant. Everything just feels good. There's place to relax and enjoy.
d.) Restaurant food. Prices are good, service good, and food is excellent. Whilst the menu might appear average for a hotel, the quality, presentation and flavour of the food is fantastic. Although not on the menu, I asked for cheese-board. It was delivered, beautifully presented, a great selection of cheeses and - in my humble opinion - perfect.

This hotel is growing on me. A home from home. Good food, good accommodation, good space to chill and reasonable prices if you book early. I'll be back.

Booked Sunday dinner for a party of 9. The restaurant had a great ambiance and was very comfortable. The service was very attentive and efficient and staff were very friendly. Portion size was generous and overall a very enjoyable meal.

Let me start by saying the staff were fantastic. They were friendly, helpful and made up for the downsides of our stay.

Our room seemed clean at first glance. Little dust, sparkling toilet, no pubic hairs looming in the shower. But not long after checking in we found a dead moth one of the towels in the bathroom, a few live moths behind the net curtains and in the cupboard, and even one in the bed. I could not believe how many there were, given it must have been cleaned/inspected hours before.
We also found someone else's belongings hiding under the skirt of the bed so I don't think the room had been checked very thoroughly.

I would go back again for the restaurant, and for the service provided by the staff. But I would not stay there again.

we went there as a group and had a great time, I have read some bad reviews but we couldn't fault it, we were treated well and the food they dished up was great, probably too much for some people, the staff were friendly and very helpful we were quite happy with it all.

Room Tip: I would chose the south side, much nicer
