£74 for 4 of us, drinks included-a half of the price of eating at Broadway but much more tasty and the atmosphere is real local pub-friendly service and absolutely lovely food.I had swordfish rolls with new potatoes-the swordfish was wrapped around a soft cheese and spinach filling and it was melt in the mouth tender. Dessert was home made cointreau ice cream with dark chocolate-I don't usually like ice cream but I do like cointreau so I thought I'd give it a whirl- it was beautiful- not overpowering and the dark chocolate note (literally) was a perfectly balanced foil to the creaminess of the ice cream.
As usual, i hovered over no 2 son's fish and chips, waiting for scraps- the battered fish is always beautifully crisp, thick and soft inside and even the children's portion is huge enough for two!For the price, this is a hidden gem-it can be a bit hit and miss but as it's got into its stride, it is scoring far more hits than misses.
