Surprising hotel, undergoing renovations as we speak. Agreed (I thought) with the night staff that 8 a.m. would be the earliest for the workmen to start making their much-needed noise. Surprise! It was 6:34 a.m. when my walls were being plastered from the outside, a very strange way to wake up indeed.
A quick call to #9 desk led to more shuffling and eventually a bit less noise.
Asked for a better room, which was promptly provided. Good upgrade.
Breakfast was fine, though nothing out of the ordinary. Great croissants.
Dining in the evening was pleasurable.
Next night no probs, high up in the castle.
Over all, be prepared for some improvisations and use your best manners and diplomacy to savour the very best Limburg has to offer, especially in personal relations. The staff were suberb, hats off.
Notable lack of newspapers at the desk, making this a much less business-like proposal than the fellow hotels in this chain. It did explain the mostly elderly population of guests.More
