I have stayed at this place a number of times and it never fails to live up to good service. The rooms are very large with good large bathrooms. I agree with some other reviewers that they are a little dated but they are kept in very good condition so that shouldn't matter

What makes the place is the outstanding restaurant. Very very good food and service. I have eaten there a number of times and never had a bad meal.

Staff always friendly and helpful

Room Tip: Some are a long walk from the reception but all are very good

Hotel feels like a grand hotel but maybe abit dated. Maybe this hotel is quite old?

Generally well maintained but I didnt like the bathroom. Especially the separate shower area was old.

Rooms had no aircon so u got to leave the balcony door abit opened. It was designed to be able to lock the door with a gap so cold air can come in. But I cannot imagine this in summer. As the balcony door is opened there r flies and mozzies that will fly thru... this was a big no no for me.

Breakfast spread was minimal. I hardly came across hotel breakfast with so little selection of breads or pastries or hot food.

Dinner was fantastic though at the same restaurant.

The hotel is excellent. Nice, large, modern rooms with balcony or terrace (no air-con so look out for the mosquitoes). However, we had a meal in the restaurant and the service was diabolical despite several complaints during the evening including speaking to the restaurant manager. All they could do was offer us a free coffee!

This hotel if you are relying on public transport, appeared difficult to get to. It is a very pleasant walk of about 20 or 30 minutes from the town. This hotel had a very welcoming and warm atmosphere to it. Staff and other guests were very friendly and respectful . Check in was excellent . The room was a great size and bathroom included bath tub and seperate power shower. The room was on ground floor with a separate door which led to the outside of the hotel. The restaurant is very big and on Saturday 26/1/2013 it was very busy indeed. It was obvious that local people dine at this hotel also. From the moment we entered this restaurant, until we left, our experience here was 5 star. Friendly, well presented and informed staff who you could see enjoyed their work and the food was for us just excellent. The decor and table layout was conducive to a fine dining restaurant . Overall I would recommend this hotel particularly for couples or those looking for a quiet relaxing time. I do hope I can visit again when the weather is better.

Coming over a business trip and had a great stay. Rooms are very nice, all is cleaned well, fantastic breakfast ! The breakfast is full with options, fresh breads and pastries , an ok coffee machine and large tea collection. could add a few salads but was a very good breakfast.
The showers and bath was clean and friendly to use. Feels like a five star hotel. I staid for 2 nights
The room include a free wifi, however the net connection was not that good and the Internet comes and go often.

The restaurant was an ok experience as well, they have tasty food but very busy and a bit slow.
I would come again , if needed to be in this area , the value for money is a great one.
Rather then that, I have only good feelings for this hotel and no other feedback to say because It was really a great hotel.
At some locations i saw some activities for kids, kids tables in the lobby for drawing and some toys to play...as I'm a business travelers but also a mom, it was nice to see this as well.

Although not mentioned here, this hotel is part of the Van der Valk group. The room we had was very spacious for Dutch standards, but had no A/C. Amenities in the room were good, the interior was updated quite recently. I was not really impressed by the quality of the mattress though.

Breakfast was good, staff at the reception very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here 2 nights 1st weekend Nov. Easy to find - just off the highway and a short drive to central Emmeloord. Good base for exploring the Flevoland and Friesland.

PROs: Quiet location, lots of easy free parking.
Pleasant check in experience with english spoken by almost all employees.
Lovely reception area with a bar and coffee bar - this was always busy and well used.
Room (on ground floor) was classified as a "comfort room" - it was large, stylish and with a very large bathroom (separate shower and large deep tub)
Windows and door led out onto garden area which would be nice in summer.
Lots of wardrobe and luggage storage available
TV with approx 10 channels and some radio channels too (you could purchase access to more TV/Film from a vending machine just off the lobby.
Breakfast (served from 7.30am every day) was included in the price of 99Euros per night - this is served in the main restaurant area just off reception and offers a large choice of typically Dutch breakfast items plus hot choices too (eggs, bacon, sausage etc) Large bakery selection was kept well stocked. Overall this was more than enough to keep you going until evening. I believe you can reserve a table for breakfast but we just turned up and were invited to choose a table ourselves - they simply take your room number (and it was a lot more pleasant experience than some Hiltons we've recently stayed in)
Free wi-fi was super useful - pretty quick too - no complaints

Our shower flooded on the first morning but this was resolved that day whilst we were out and we were more than happy with the response.
Insufficient shelf space in bathroom for all my girly bits and pieces!
There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room which was very disappointing (you have to walk all the way back to reception to get a drink)
There is no room temperature control - we found the room very warm during the middle of the night but couldn't do anything about it and we couldn't make a drink either - very frustrating)
The hotel seems to be a large "V" shape and the corridors are very long. We were woken 3 times (1am, 2.30am and 3.25am) by people walking down the corridor talking & laughing very loudly. Reception wasn't bothered by this when we mentioned it at checkout. A couple of signs asking people to be quiet at night (like the Schiphol Hilton) would help...
The room as quite dark - it definitely needs improved lighting given the dark colour scheme which absorbs light.
There is nothing around the hotel apart from a Shell petrol (Gas) station meaning you have to eat there or get into your car.
The hotel is able to cater for large groups and on the Saturday morning there were two large family gatherings at breakfast - one had about 35-40 in the group and once they were all seated, the restaurant became very noisy and the queues for food and teas/coffee etc were huge. You would have waited at least 20 mins to serve yourself. We got up early next morning to ensure we missed this.

Other bits:
We didn't use the restaurant in the evening but it looked lovely and seemed to be very popular with the locals.

Overall a good choice - it could be really great with a couple of minor tweaks :)
