We visited the Blue Mountains as a day trip from Sydney this Oct. While it's nice enough and prettish and scenic it's honestly nothing out of the ordinary. Leura village is quaint and lovely but the Three Sisters and the waterfalls etc are quite run of the mill. We took the explorer bus which was fine but we didn't get as much time as we would have liked to explore as everything closes very early at 5pm. And nothing we saw warrants a stay here so on the whole I guess your best bet is to start very early (it's a 2 hour train rude from Central) so you have more time and maybe of lunch on the go since stopping got lunch takes a while.

Just love roaming around anywhere in the Blue Mountains, spring time is the best when all the wild flowers are in bloom.

You won't find the amazing views of higher up the mountains here, but there are some great bush walks of a few hours each, good swimming in summer and fantastic mountain bike riding. The Glenbrook Gorge is fun for rock hopping for a day, and Euroka Clearing a pleasant place for a picnic. Camping sites are available.

Glenbrook is a small village with a great bakery, Deli and a number of coffee shops as well as a wonderful little community cinema. One hour on the train from Sydney and you are in the National Park. If you drive you need to visit the Euroka clearing (maps etc in information centre) There are wallabies, and a large space to pitch a tent, barbecue facilities and the lovely bush to enjoy. There is a small fee for entry to the park. A lovely day out!
