“Wonderful part of the South Island”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

We rode in a group of 22 people to Motueka on Harley Davidson's. We found the Torlesse to be fantastic. Not your 5 star but very comfy and the staff were great, very very helpful and even came for a ride with us (being fellow Harley Riders). Great range to little restaurants around the area and lots of places to visit and explore. We have a 2 bedroom unit which was great, with views out to the beach. Would highly recommend this little spot if you are venturing to this area of New Zealand.

We stayed here ,though we had planned on Ligar Bay but due to the storms and washed out roads making access impossible, we stayed here instead (booked unseen through the I-site in Picton). A newish studio (room 6) but over priced compared to similar accommodation. The kitchen was not very well equiped and the room was a little spartan looking,7 chanels on the tv The room was serviced daily, fresh towels etc but not required. Wi-fi available at $10 for about an hour of low usage, $2 to use the tumble dryer, $3 for the spa. The property is on a hillside and there were a number of steps to access the room. A clean but very basic property. Kaiteriteri is a good spot to access Abel Tasman track and National Park.

We spent a month travelling around New Zealand and this was probably the best motel we stayed at.

We stayed in the LUXURY TWO BEDROOM UNIT and the views of the bay from the balcony were simply fantastic! The unit also had a large communal area which was great. We arrived late at night and had washing we needed to do. The dryer is in the owners unit but they were so helpful in letting us dry a couple of loads and just called us when it was ready to pick up.

I would recommend to anyone heading to Abel Tasman.

Not cheap, but good rooms with balconies and facilities. The walk into town is great (lots of steps!). This is a wonderful base to take a water taxi and have a tramp in the Able Tasman Park - my favourite place. Ever.

We stayed here 2 nights on our tour, having been offered a box in the centre of kaiteriteri this huge high ceilinged room was a nice surprise, though at 180 dollars a night it should be ! The sea view was a bit distant but a very pleasant outlook nonetheless. The space was very nicely presented with a full hob in the well equipped kitchen area and a washing machine. The bathroom was large with a great shower. It is just a 5 minute stroll to the lovely beach with a shorcut through to the main part of the town to catch the boats etc.
Maybe a little pricey, but very nice.

We stayed here for the second time in 9 years, and found it had been taken over by the adult children of the previous owners. They had worked hard to continue the excellent service we experienced last time. We used this accommodation for 2 weeks during the height of the summer season, to enable us to walk the Abel Tasman Way. The small town of Kaiteriteri was very busy but the motel had good free parking and was quiet during the day and night.

The only issue we had was the price of the wifi internet provided by a third party. As we had been away for over 2 months we used skype regularly to keep in touch with elderly parents and grand children. Skype is free to use, but the service provider charged per Mb used, and this meant we ended up with a very heavy internet bill after 2 weeks.

There are few restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood so be prepared to either self cater or eat in the local tavern.

We had such a wonderful stay at this motel. The hosts were friendly but not imposing and the units are really quite wonderful. They are really well appointed with lovely gardens and our unit had a great balcony with a sea view. Superb.
We would definitely love to come back here to this slice of paradise.
