“Great kiwi holiday spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

We return every year in January for our annual Kaiteriteri holiday . Beautiful save beach, great weather (most years), great family holiday spot and helpful office staff. This holiday spot is a wonderful place to begin your walk in the Abel Tasman National Park. It is also a great place to catch a boat for a day trip to the national park. Has a small supermarket on site for most things you need, but also only about 15 minutes from Motueka township. Extremely popular camp over the summer season so definitely need to book in advance.

This was one of the best sites we stayed at during 3 weeks in NZ - right on the beach and super quiet. I can't thank the owners enough for helping us to get back into our van in the middle of the night when we locked ourselves out (and our child in!). The amenities were all clean and the laundry sink is big enough for a baby bath. We didn't have a problem with the 6 minute showers - that's longer than you need, including washing hair etc.

We visited here at a quiet time of the year so were able to pick what ever spot we wanted out of the huge camp-site. The plots are quite big (especially for our little camper-van) but were had very little divide between them (potentially overcrowded peak season). There were plenty of toilets and showers but unfortunately you had to pay for the showers, 6 mins at a time. The box to put your money in is outside the cubicle but if you have a friend who can put more money in for you then you have time to wash your hair. I loved the location, right on the beach with a shop and cafe next door.

Room Tip: Make sure you wander around the camp first to pick the best spot suited to your needs.

Our first stoip, having picked up our campervan in Picton earlier that day. The lie of the land is: sea, beach, road, camp site. We went the weekend after Easter and the site was almost empty so we had a front row pitch.

The facilities were spotless and complete, no complaints. I imagine that the story is different in peak season, but out of peak times the amazing location makes this a winner.

Room Tip: Off season, the only place is by the beach.

We stayed here for one night and didn't particularly care for it. The campsite is huge and a lot of the motorhomes seem to be owned by people there for several weeks at a time. The facilities are ok. It is very close to the beach which it is its best feature.

My children and I have been staying at the Kaiteriteri Motor camp each summer for several years now and thoroughly enjoy the camp atmosphere. We usually stay on one of the many powered sites in tents or a caravan but this time we stayed in an ensuite cabin for a change. It was a pleasant surprise and very spacious. There was a double bed and a set of single bunks which were comfortable. The unit also had a shower, toilet, TV, fridge freezer, table and chairs and a sink for food preparation and washing up. The communal bbq was close by, as was the kitchen. The cabin was warm and buffered any noise from outside. The price was very reasonable. I appreciated the small sunny balcony the cabin had for relaxing with my book and a glass of wine in the late afternoon. The camp itself is well run and with clean facilities. The dairy, although expensive, has a good range of supplies. We all had a fantastic time and there is something for everyone at Kaiteriteri. The only negatives we could think of are that there is no recreation room if it's raining and no biking or scootering in the camp.

Due to its location, which is feet away from the beautiful beach, it was overloaded with motorhomes, caravans, and boat trailers. It was more like a parking lot, packed full of big vehicles, lack of trees and shades. It was noisy throughout the night. Beautiful beach to visit for the day and camp elsewhere. Not recommended for tenting.
