As part of our family holiday tour around the Sligo/Galway we had the misfortune to spend 2 nights (26th & 27th)in this so called hotel. Having spent 5 nights in the lovely Sligo Clarion we were looking forward to a few days in Galway. Both hotels were booked with Supervalu breaks.
Firstly, on check in the receptionist was aloof and couldn’t even tell us where we might find a playground. There was no Wi-Fi available even though it was advertised. The family room had steps down to the single beds (No thought given to small children)!! I got an iron from housekeeping which tripped all the sockets in the room at regular 5 min intervals!
The food was shocking, we ate 'dinner' which was steak on a plate with soggy mushrooms & onions underneath - the gravy consisted of the black juice flowing from the mushrooms!!
The boys got overcooked dry fish fingers.
Breakfast was even worse - served in the bar with the full Irish displayed (Grease, grease and more grease), no breakfast cereals unless you asked and then the staff scrambled to the kitchen to get some. My kids even spit out the sausages they were so vile.
On the Friday night the bar had a party which was right underneath our room. This continued until 2am and then to top off the great nights sleep a couple decided to get the headboard rattling at 5.30am!! No issue with the couple (lucky them!) but hotel maintenance should really get the headboards attached to the wall!! But then again we noticed the main door to reception was held hope with a desert spoon as a make shift door stop so unsure how much maintenance is done on the hotel.
When I complained there was a half attempt at an apology and a bottle of wine left in the room as a bribe to stay quiet.
While there was little noise on the second night we could not wait to pack our bags and leave. We had tried to find other accommodation in the region but none was available.
Upon check out we returned the bottle of wine and the 'dinner' was removed from the bill.
I wouldn't recommend this spot to anyone and would be reluctant to book any other Supervalu breaks in case we got another hotel like this.
I wonder about other trip advisor reviews of this hotel - I cannot imagine how they had such good experiences.

Room Tip: Do not stay in this hotel if you value your sanity!!

We stayed in this lovely hotel for three nights. All staff were so helpful and friendly. ie I forgot my phone charger and they located one for me to use over my stay. Ample parking. Rooms spacious and cleaned every day. Breakfast until 11.30 am, so had great sleeps!! Public bus stop directly outside the hotel - great for going shopping to Galway city - no need to worry about hassle of parking! Fiona

Stayed in this hotel as my daughter was getting married in a local castle. Have to say the staff were the friendliest staff i have ever seen in any hotel. the were very welcoming and very attentive to your needs. the rooms were clean and comfortable. the food was delicious and reasonably priced. It would maybe be nice to have a better choice at breakfast , maybe few cereals and yogurts instead of just a fry up. we had a extremely friendly barman in the residents bar , lovely friendly lad Robbie thanks for putting up with us :) . Really enjoyed our stay.
