Alternative was hotels, charging over £150 a night by the Airport. Had a look at TripAdvisor, and the reviews seemed reasonable, and managed to get a large double room for £45.

Unfortunately, reception closes down at c. 6pm, but in fairness, they made arrangements to leave the room open, with the key inside.

Comfortable room, but a bit dated, and very cold. Inadequate heater, and because it was so cold in the room, decided not to bother with a shower in the morning.

Overall though, excellent location, next to M42, so if you have a car, worth a stay. Good value.

We were staying with friends and this place had been reccommended to them. We were expecting something special for £11.95 per head for a Sunday roast. The quality of it was extremely poor - roast potatoes were hard, veg had been hanging around buy the look of the colour of it. Beef was very chewy. I've had much better in a Toby carvery for less than half the price. This is a second class establishment which seriously lacks attention to detail. We didn't have wine (weren't offerd a wine list) but the wine glasses weren't clean - one had lipstick marks on it! The staff, although very friendly, obviously haven't been trained. Side plates should be to the left. Our spirits had the mixer already in and glasses were too small.
NO atmosphere in dining room - only one other table occupied and the room was cold. There was a grand piano in the corner but music was played on a CD!! To top it all when I went to the Ladies toilet the hand dryer wasn't working, and the staff member said she would "make a note of it"!!! Overall not a good experience. David Morris - please take note of these reviews.

Room Tip: We didn't stay - only went for lunch.

This restaurant experience lacks attention to detail.. As previous reviewers have stated, there were few other diners, leading to a lack of atmosphere, even though we had previously been told that we needed to book as it "got very busy, and was very popular on Sundays". The dining room is a little chilly, the service, although the staff are pleasant, is amateurish and obviously no one is paying attention to how these young people serve guests. We were not offered the wine list, or how much mixer we would like in our drinks.
The lunch was not good value for money, based upon other local experiences. The veg was hard and appeared to have been kept warm while the rest of the food was prepared, as there were brown tinges to the cauli and cabbage. The beef was 'chewy'. We were given the menus and were pleased to browse the choices of desserts as well as the mains so that we could decide if we wanted one, two or three courses and which of those courses to have. We mentally chose a main and a dessert based upon the menu choices. However, after the main meal, the waitress came out with a list of 'today's desserts'. None of which were on the menu!! None of which we fancied either, so were left feeling unsatisfied.
This place has a lot of potential, but is let down by a lack of attention to detail by management, who are ultimately responsible for the running of the place.

I came to the Limes to see some of the live entertainment that they have every month, It was fantastic! I had met some friends who I hadn't seen since school for a nice upmarket meal! I have to say I was not disappointed! The presentation and flavours of the food were some of the best I have ever tasted outside of London. The staff were second to none and really attentive- For the business of the night all you had to do was get the attention and they were with you right away! We stayed in a few rooms each and have to say that they were also nice- Modern, airy and warm... For the price we paid I was pleased as the staff seemed really atttentive and considerate of the fact that we were guests staying there after a few too many glasses of wine. One fo the satff even speaks 8 languages! I shall definitley be returning to sample more of the food and great atmosphere that this beautiful country retreat not far from Birmingham!!
After reading some previous reviews I find it hard to believe- but looking at the date maybe this was due to them not being open long or they have looked at the comments and improved training? This is going on my list of hotels to return to :)) WELL DONE

Room Tip: Ask a member of staff for anything and they will always help! room 5 was lovely

We always like to try out new restaurants for Sunday lunch so this was an opportune occasion to see what was on the table as they say. One of my sons girlfriends has booked "The Limes" for her 30th Birthday in August so we thought we would give it a bash. Excellent to say the least. Good food, fine selection of vegetables and I imagine a wonderful place in the Summer, if we ever get another one.
David Morris, "the Governor" has a pride in the place and really gets involved. Rare in this day and age. Look forward to our next visit on the 10th Feb with friends where I might even give the piano a tinkling. Good friendly and efficient staff too. One small point. Cheese and bickies would be a welcome addition to the menu for lunch. Roll on Feb 10th. Lord BASNETT
