We stayed 3 nights at this awesome inn in White Conch Room B, with breakfast and dinner included (they have different pricing options available). After enduring an 8-hour bone jarring bus ride from Amritsar, the inn was a god send.
The room was terrific with aromatic wood decor, it was just like staying in an alpine sky lodge. The view was spectacular! The bathroom was large, spotless, and new looking (it's a no-tub deal but that's normal for India). The shower was super hot. The room was incredibly quiet. Although the October nights were chilly, the room was surprisingly well insulated and we felt really warm inside (I'm not sure what happens when it gets way colder).
The food was great, it's just like home cooking. You order off the menu for breakfast but for dinner, we'd be greeted with a seemingly endless array of delicious vegetarian dishes (it's kind of like chef's choice) since we chose to have dinner included in our room price - veg stir frys, pakora, momo's, pasta, soups, etc. There was even dessert to boot! The chocolate cake was divine. I totally got hooked on the ginger lemon honey tea - perfect for chilly weather!
The service was fabulous. Sonam and company are so, so nice and helpful. They even let us do late check-out until like 5pm because we had a 9pm night train to catch. They helped us arrange a very comfortable sedan to take us to Pathankot to take this night train (we arrived without a problem thank heavens as we were driving on narrow, winding roads without barriers in pitch dark night for 2 hours).
The location was great. A quick jaunt up a hill (not as steep as others suggested) and you were in town in about 10 minutes by foot. The town is super small with lots of shopping. Next time, I'd ask for bus station pick up from Dharamsala because the taxi had a lot of trouble finding the inn (the inn's sign is not visible from the road and hidden behind a big tree!).
Overall excellent stay, I would definitely stay again.
