This hotel is ideal for backpackers and those on low budget. Situated just down the main square on temple road, the rooms are in the lower levels from the road and hence mobile reception could be a problem when inside the room. The valley facing rooms (with small individual balconies) are the best bet, as the other rooms could give a claustrophobic feel. The staff are very courteous and pleasant. They also run a bike rental service, as well as a well stocked artifacts store right next to the reception of the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose the valley facing rooms.

Lord Krishna Residency is a good hotel with pretty good rooms. The façade can make you little dicey about the hotel but the rooms are good. They were spacious, clean; bathrooms were well and tidy with running hot water, clean bed sheets, pillows and blanket. The owner Mr. Sachin helped us to create our itinerary. He can help you to arrange taxi for Bir billing or pick or drop at any location. Mr. Raju is pretty helpful, fast service, fine tea. We were in room 401, valley view, 3 beds, huge sofa which can accommodate a person(so 4 people can be accommodated in that room), LCD TV (with USB port) and dining table too. The hotel is at temple road just before where the main stalls of road starts, good location.
There were just 2 drawbacks – The hotel is adjacent to a building which is being constructed and monkeys (we cannot leave our balcony door open because of it – these are not hotel’s fault), and the food, please do not order food in hotel room, they have partnership with Black Magic or Ashoka restaurant we had food from Blsck Magic not recommended.
Hotel is recommended for those who want to have good service and have limited corpus.

Room Tip: Do not take food from balck magic or Hotel Ashoka.. Waste of money as well as tasteless

We arrived at about 5 pm and were met by one of the hotel representatives at the "chowk" (square). He was very courteous, and since we had no booking and were on our way to the tourist information center, we relented to see the hotel room that he was offering us. The room came with a narrow balcony, enough to fit plastic-moulded chairs to sit on, but the view compensated for everything else. the valley lay spread out, literally from below the hotel and we could see for miles on end. We expected to stay for 2 nights therefore, after a little bargaining we got the room for a rate of INR 1000 per day only. The hotel has just been renovated, and everything looked new in our room on the first floor from street level (the hotel extends below street level for 2 floors). Since it had just started 4 months back, they still did not have any kitchen facilities, which we did not mind as our interest was to have Tibetian meals throughout our stay here. However, a menu card of another restaurant was shown to us with Indian and chinese food listed for room service. Our stay within the hotel was limited to a brief rest in the evening before dinner and then for sleeping at night, we would leave at about 9 o'clock in the morning and be out sight-seeing, the rest of the time.
All-in-all a very pleasant stay!
