We spent 6 days at La Tavola Marche in October 2013. What a fantastic experience! Ashley and Jason were warm, welcoming and enthusiastic about their B&B, cooking school and region. The weather was beautiful and the mushrooms were plentiful so, naturally, we made a mushroom ragu. We took 3 half-day lessons which was good since we learned a lot of new dishes and skills but still had time to take day trips and a wine tour with Marco (fabulous wine and cheese tour!).
It is an old farmhouse but it has been nicely brought up to date. Our room was large and comfortable and the bed was great. The house was full when we were there but hot water was never a problem.
Ashley had recommendations on places to visit and events. The truffle festivals were going full tilt and the people in the small towns were very friendly. The local food, wine and cheese are exceptional.
Jason is a good teacher. He starts with a review of the day’s menu and everything seems pretty calm. Then we move into production mode and he takes it up a few notches. He is very focused and keeps you on track but always notices if you mastered the skill or need a little more instruction. He clearly loves his work.
If you want hands-on, authentic Italian food and an opportunity to meet people from all over the world, this is your place. I highly recommend it.
