“Great cooking school in a beautiful place!”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

We spent 6 days at La Tavola Marche in October 2013. What a fantastic experience! Ashley and Jason were warm, welcoming and enthusiastic about their B&B, cooking school and region. The weather was beautiful and the mushrooms were plentiful so, naturally, we made a mushroom ragu. We took 3 half-day lessons which was good since we learned a lot of new dishes and skills but still had time to take day trips and a wine tour with Marco (fabulous wine and cheese tour!).
It is an old farmhouse but it has been nicely brought up to date. Our room was large and comfortable and the bed was great. The house was full when we were there but hot water was never a problem.
Ashley had recommendations on places to visit and events. The truffle festivals were going full tilt and the people in the small towns were very friendly. The local food, wine and cheese are exceptional.
Jason is a good teacher. He starts with a review of the day’s menu and everything seems pretty calm. Then we move into production mode and he takes it up a few notches. He is very focused and keeps you on track but always notices if you mastered the skill or need a little more instruction. He clearly loves his work.
If you want hands-on, authentic Italian food and an opportunity to meet people from all over the world, this is your place. I highly recommend it.

La Tavola Marche is a great place to unwind and just enjoy the beautiful Italian countryside. My friend and I had an incredible weekend! Ashley and Jason are fabulous hosts that really made our stay special. We also took two cooking classes. Jason is an excellent chef and teacher. We learned how to make different types of pasta, sauces and homemade sausage. The classes are small so you are able to get hands on attention from the chef and really learn how to properly make the dish.
Our vacation included hunting for mushrooms in the woods on their property, attending a truffle festival and meeting wonderful people from all over the world! This was a perfect weekend getaway! I highly recommend visiting La Tavola Marche and I can't wait to go back!

We spent 3 nights here in mid-september and wish we could have stayed more! Ashley and Jason are wonderful, exuberant and generous people. We enjoyed the welcome feast on our first night which was absolutely delicious, including fabulous local wine. We did an afternoon cooking class with Jason which was really fun and we learnt valuable skills to use back home. Jason is a fantastic teacher and made us feel comfortable while showing us new techniques. He gave us tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, onions, garlic and herbs, (when he's realised ours had frozen in the freezer!) from their own garden which was fabulous! Ashley is a magnificent host, warm and very welcoming. The breakfasts she provides in the morning are plentiful and delicious. Our accommodation was very comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The grounds of La Tavola Marche are beautiful (especially in Autumn) and it was lovely to relax by the pool with a book or stroll around with hens at your feet. We cannot wait to come back again one day! Highly recommended!

My wife and I spent four lovely days here in mid-September. Marche is a wildly beautiful and un-touristy region of Italy. I've been familiar with Ashley and Jason for several years thru their website, email subscription, blog postings and podcasts. I encourage you to listen to the podcasts, which are delightful gems of information about their lives and adventures. They are wonderful hosts, charming and helpful. We did a cooking class one afternoon in which we prepared a 6 course meal for all of the guests. Jason is a wonderfully pratical teacher, whom we enjoyed, even if he was unimpressed by my cutting skills! Be sure to bring your appetite: the food is delicious and plentiful. Pizza nite is especially fun. There are several quaint towns/villages 20-30 minutes away, but La Tavola is so pleasant, you may not want to. This is definitely a place we'd want to go back to.

We had a fabulous week at La Tavola Marche. Jason and Ashley are wonderful hosts and we had a great time with the other guests, too. It felt like a wonderful reunion week, except we had never met the other participants before. Ashley ensured that we had great plans for every day and Jason taught us all so much, even the confident cooks in the group. He does a great job of making the classes fun and interesting for everyone. We took two half day classes plus the Friday market trip. I highly recommend it all! We exchanged contact info with all our new friends as we left with warm hearts and full tummies.

October was a great time to be in Le Marche. Of course you can't take advantage of the pool at this time of year, but lets face it, you don't need to go into the largely untouched mountainous wilds of the central Apennines to sun bake. It's all about the food, the wine, the hospitality and the bonhomie. Jason is an inquisitive and accomplished chef, anxious to teach about the how more than the what of the local cuisine. We had a great time and learnt a lot. Leave plenty of time to fit in the tours of the local area that Ashley and Jason offer and fit in as many cooking classes as you can. Even if you consider yourself an accomplished Italian cook you are bound to emerge with some very useful tips and a renewed sense of enthusiasm. Besides, how many of us can boast a wood fired oven out the back?

Room Tip: They are all simple but spacious, warm and quiet with a small kitchen and very comfortable beds. The...

After a lovely drive through the countryside, we were welcomed by Ashley and Jason. After getting settled in our bright and charming apartment, we were given a tour, the setting is amazing, then had a glass or two, of delicious wine to enjoy with local dried meats & cheese on our patio. Thursday was Jason' s special pizza night.- every pizza better than the one before, all on his handmade beer pizza dough crust. Absolutely delish, fresh home grown toppings with a fresh garden salad, wine followed by Ashley's melt in you mouth pastries and of course the famous Lemoncello. What a great start!

Next morning, a delicious breakfast was waiting, then off for local market trip with Jason. We had an opportunity to meet the locals who produce and sell the products as well as getting more information about each product as well as a tasting. Next stop with Ashley, a new and thriving brewery with an outstanding view for a beer, then a grappa tasting.

The Hunters Hideaway for lunch was a real treat, delicious local food served in a very charming location.

Our cooking class with Jason was fun, informative and a chance to improve our knife skills with a generous teacher. Under his guidance we produced a delicious meal for ourselves as well as incoming guests.

Genuine hospitality extended by both Jason & Ashley made the visit welcoming, fun and informative. Jason and Ashley's love and involvement in Le Marche is very evident.

We would love to return in the near future for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Pesca was perfect for a couple, Ground level made bringing the luggage easier. The little patio outs...
