We stayed at the Alykes Garden Village for 1 week in early August and we had a fantastic stay. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown our self-catering room. The family were so friendly and helpful it really made our stay. It was so clean and spacious with a lovely view of the mountains from the patio. The room is basic but more than adequate. The pool was large compared to the other hotels we saw and never busy. The hotel is set amongst beautiful gardens, olive groves and vineyards making it feel lush.
The road down to the village to some may be a small jaunt when it’s really hot but we enjoyed the excuse to stop off for a Mythos beer part-way and it also lets you see a bit of the town’s outer limits. We loved the hotel’s location.
There are a few stray dogs in Alykes town, DO NOT make eye contact with them!!! Unless you want them to follow you around for the rest of the week! We would recommend the Sugarbush bar for drinks, the Iris bar for entertainment and the Astoria and Zorbas for food.
Alykes is quiet but not too quiet, it good for families and couples alike and the resort is clean and feels safe unlike some of the busier resorts like Laganas. Book your excursions in town, they are much cheaper, we recommend My Tours opposite the Sugarbush.
The beach was crowded with loungers but it is an amazing stretch of water there, it’s very warm and shallow but you don’t have to go too far out for it to be swimmable. A snorkel by the rock jetty will give you great views of crabs, gobies and other colourful and curious fish.
We highly recommend Alykes and the Garden Village to anyone if you want sun, warm waters and relaxation, we are looking forward to our trip back there next summer. Sarah & Katie London.
