I know some people find the reviews of this hotel a little over the top and hard to believe but I can only echo everything great that has been said before.

My wife and I first discovered Zante in 1990 as a newly married couple when we visited a very rural Kalamaki that has since become more and more commercialised.as we revisited with our growing family.

Our last trip (we flew home today) was to Alykes where we stayed at this wonderful hotel in a part of the island that much more resembles the Zante that we fell in love with.

The hotel is lovely - it is very well appointed and clearly lovingly looked after by Jimmy and his lovely family. They made us welcome from the start making a clear effort to know us all by our first names and thus remove any fomalities. They could not do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and their advice during the holiday was very useful.

The room that we were given overlooked the (in)famous gardens. Which brings us to the famous cockerel that was such a problem to other visitors. Yes it crows at various times of the day but is it a nuisance - we did not think so. The hotel is surrounded by various small holdings with olive trees, grape vines, chickens, goats and a lone donkey. All adding to the rural Greek feel that we so enjoyed when we first visited the island.

The room was of a good size and kept meticulously clean by the hotel staff. The twin studio allocated to our children (aged 16 and 20) was of a similar high standard and overlooked the pool.

So - in summary. A wonderful hotel that is located in a beautiful, peaceful, rural part of the island and run by a warm welcoming family. I thoroughly recommend it...

This was THE best holiday my wife and I have had in Zante and we have been coming here since 1992 ! A family run hotel and that to me helped to give this holiday experience a very personal touch from every member of the family. Nothing was ever too much trouble, where else has the owner of the hotel came to the airport and picked you up in his own car ? ? Every member of the family knew, not just our names, but all the guests names, the atmosphere was terrific, the rooms very spacious and cleaned every day without fail by a very thorough and lovely lady who Iam embarrased to say I do not know her name, yet she knew ours and that to me says everything about this hotel and staff, every member of the family and staff were genuine to the very last day of your stay.
We stayed for four weeks and this was an experience we will never forget, we toured the island and saw a lot more of the island than we have ever seen before thanks to Jimmy's knowledge of the island and pin pointing the lovliest places to visit (and there are so many of them honestly).
The pool area was spotlessly clean due to it being cleaned every morning before breakfast and in time for everyone coming down to sunbathe, the bar was always open for refreshments and snacks, the village of Katastari was a 10 minute walk, as was the centre of Alykes, plenty of restaurants to choose from and a handful of bars, this , although lively, is great for families or couples who want to RELAX and that is exactly what we did, if you want the really noisy atmosphere you can pop into Alykanas. This place has it all and then after you have enjoyed your night there is the unbelievably quiet surroundings of the hotel to sleep.
Both my wife and I would like to thank Jimmy, Soula, (Mother Chris), the ever young Theodore, Ekaterina and Yiorgi for the best holiday experience ever.
We would also like to thank all the people who we met around the the pool area, everyone got on with each other it was so relaxing and friendly I WANT TO DO IT AGAIN !!!!!
Will see you again next year Jimmy

Room Tip: To be honest with you, Jimmy is so up front about everything, he will tell which rooms are best for...

Where to start? The best service I have ever experienced on any Greek island.

Jimmy, Soula, Chrissi, Ekaterina, Yiorgi and Theodore treated us like old friends from arrival. Faultless service and THE best customer care you could hope for. My wife had unfortunately lost her wedding/engagement rings just before we arrived and Jimmy took the trouble to take us into Zante Town and introduce us to the best jeweller so we could replace the lost wedding ring. We felt like royalty.

Lovely complex, fantastic quiet spot, top pool and very good food - we even got Soula's recipe for Frigania!

Alykes & Katastari were the perfect places for us to unwind. Great beach, super food and friendly welcoming service everywhere. Do visit Spiro's on the train tour too. Simply beautiful.

We made the effort to see as much of the island and experience Zakynthian culture and were never disappointed. A real jewel.

We went on holiday and made lovely new friends.

To Jimmy & family - Sas efkharisto yia ton kopo sas.

We wish you all health, success and happiness - you're the best.

Stay at the Alykes Garden village last week in may first week in june had a fantastic holiday. went with my husband, daughter son-in-law and grandchildren. Rooms very spacious well equipped and spotlessly clean. Pool area clean and well maintained. Jimmy and his family are really lovely and will go out of there way for you. The beach and restaurants are about 10 minutes walk away. The beach was nice and the restaurants very good had some lovely meals, our favourites being Pavadosiako which was down near the canal ( best cheesecake ever ) second best was Relax but most of them were nice. Will definitely go back.

My husband and I stayed at garden village for 15 nights. We were met by Jimmy on arrival and offered a choice of 2 rooms, which is very unusual. Unfortunately, I chose a room that had a balcony that had full evening sun, which meant that we couldn't sit on it for our evening sundowner! This was no problem for Jimmy who, the following day, showed us 3 more rooms and we chose a lovely room that had a very large balcony, overlooking olive groves and farmland. We enjoyed watching and listening to the goats, cockrell's, chickens, cows, sheep and even peacocks! The apartments, gardens and pool area were all looked after very well and were spotlessly clean. We had maid service every day and the sheets and towels were changed regularly. Jimmy and his sister Soula knew all the guests by name and made sure that they chatted to everyone regularly. There were no favourites, unlike other apartments we have stayed at where the owners were only friendly with those who spent lots of money in the bar. The walk to the local village (Kalastari) and Alykes only took 10 minutes. We were able to buy water in Jimmy's little shop and he also sold his own fresh eggs! A fabulous holiday and we hope to return next year.

Room Tip: Make sure you check where the sun sets so that you can chose whether you have morning or evening sun

I stayed in Alykes garden village many years ago and the level of service and friendliness hasn't changed. Nothing is too much trouble for Jimmy and his wonderful family and the friendly welcome is worth the trip alone. The complex looks great and has wonderful views of the mountains and is only a short walk (about 10 minutes from the town). This year was the first holiday with our young child and he loved the baby pool and the great beach at Alykes. The town is full of good restaurants and places to go in the evenings - there is a reason that many of the people you meet have returned year after year. The town was quiet at the time we went but as we were after a nice relaxing holiday, this was perfect for us. Try the Pizzas at Jimmy's pool bar, perfect at lunch with a Mythos...
