“BEST MONEY CAN BUY”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

We have reached the hotel by chance as we didn’t like the house we have rented from home. We start first to ask for the address of our rental, and when we have decided not to stay at that address we went to Alykes Garden that it was in the neighbourhood.
And we thank God for that! It was SPLENDID, WONDERFULL! Everything at a very good price!
Very good rooms, clean, AC, balcony, all the rooms with balcony to the pool, we could choose the rooms, splendid pool, very clean and very good water temperature, long enough, wide enough, deep enough, small pool for small children. I was thinking to my grand-daughter as I was sorry she is not with us!
The beach is about 10-15 min away walking, is a very nice one, well equipped with beds and umbrellas, bars on the beach and the water great, very good for swimming and also very good for small children, deep waters being far away from the shore.
Being near to the mountains, it was not as hot as in other places, and during the evening the best thing to do is to sit near the pool, at the hotel bar, and enjoy a nice, quiet Greek evening. Or to go to Zante town, where a lot of nice shops are waiting for you. Or to go to Alykes town and enjoy a karaoke night! Or….. to do anything you want. You will feel free!
The owners, Jimmy and his family, very nice people, speaking very good English, ready to help you in any matter, with everything and full of good hints concerning the places to go, to visit or to have great meals. And believe me, you can trust his advice.
And, the most important, this Alykes town it is maybe the best choice in Zante, being close to wonderful places and beaches.
If you go by plane my opinion is that you need a car to visit different places on the island.
Also you must have a one day trip around the island. Anyway, Jimmy and his sister Soula will help you with everything! Anything you want, ask them.
I love them all, and I would like to thank them for everything and assure them that we will be back! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! YOU ARE THE BEST!

When you think it couldn't get any better it really does.. Jimmy and the family really can't do enough for you, they will go out of your way to make sure your stay is great, and trust me it really was, and that is why its our third year running.

The rooms are spotlessly clean, and everything you need is there and for people saying about the cockerel yes it does make some noise but it soon becomes background noise and didnt ever disturb my sleep or bother me and i read a previous comment about it being too noisy in the day to sleep if you wanted - this isnt the case i managed to sleep two hours everyday without being disturbed!

Further to this, any advice on places you are interested in visiting jimmy will be happy to provide the information. :)

The walk is around 10-15minutes from Alykes garden village to alykes crossroads (restaurants, beach etc) and also about the same into Katastari - left out of Alykes Garden, which takes you to another little village where the chemist is located, supermarket, bakery etc.

I just really can't write any bad points about this because it really is a home from home for us now. Thanks for another excellent holiday, see you soon!

Room Tip: There isnt a bad room :)

I would like to echo the previous reviews of this accommodation. Service was excellent and could not fault the genuine hospitality of Jimmy ,Soula and the rest of the family nothing was too much trouble .We stayed here 21st June -28th June 2013 and wish we had stayed longer ! The studios were spacious and spotless and the pool was just the exact temperature especially as when we were there we experienced a bit of a heatwave ( 39 degrees to be precise!!) The location is lovely semi rural but abou t 10-15 min walk to nearest bars and restaurants just ideal !

I know some people find the reviews of this hotel a little over the top and hard to believe but I can only echo everything great that has been said before.

My wife and I first discovered Zante in 1990 as a newly married couple when we visited a very rural Kalamaki that has since become more and more commercialised.as we revisited with our growing family.

Our last trip (we flew home today) was to Alykes where we stayed at this wonderful hotel in a part of the island that much more resembles the Zante that we fell in love with.

The hotel is lovely - it is very well appointed and clearly lovingly looked after by Jimmy and his lovely family. They made us welcome from the start making a clear effort to know us all by our first names and thus remove any fomalities. They could not do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and their advice during the holiday was very useful.

The room that we were given overlooked the (in)famous gardens. Which brings us to the famous cockerel that was such a problem to other visitors. Yes it crows at various times of the day but is it a nuisance - we did not think so. The hotel is surrounded by various small holdings with olive trees, grape vines, chickens, goats and a lone donkey. All adding to the rural Greek feel that we so enjoyed when we first visited the island.

The room was of a good size and kept meticulously clean by the hotel staff. The twin studio allocated to our children (aged 16 and 20) was of a similar high standard and overlooked the pool.

So - in summary. A wonderful hotel that is located in a beautiful, peaceful, rural part of the island and run by a warm welcoming family. I thoroughly recommend it...

This was THE best holiday my wife and I have had in Zante and we have been coming here since 1992 ! A family run hotel and that to me helped to give this holiday experience a very personal touch from every member of the family. Nothing was ever too much trouble, where else has the owner of the hotel came to the airport and picked you up in his own car ? ? Every member of the family knew, not just our names, but all the guests names, the atmosphere was terrific, the rooms very spacious and cleaned every day without fail by a very thorough and lovely lady who Iam embarrased to say I do not know her name, yet she knew ours and that to me says everything about this hotel and staff, every member of the family and staff were genuine to the very last day of your stay.
We stayed for four weeks and this was an experience we will never forget, we toured the island and saw a lot more of the island than we have ever seen before thanks to Jimmy's knowledge of the island and pin pointing the lovliest places to visit (and there are so many of them honestly).
The pool area was spotlessly clean due to it being cleaned every morning before breakfast and in time for everyone coming down to sunbathe, the bar was always open for refreshments and snacks, the village of Katastari was a 10 minute walk, as was the centre of Alykes, plenty of restaurants to choose from and a handful of bars, this , although lively, is great for families or couples who want to RELAX and that is exactly what we did, if you want the really noisy atmosphere you can pop into Alykanas. This place has it all and then after you have enjoyed your night there is the unbelievably quiet surroundings of the hotel to sleep.
Both my wife and I would like to thank Jimmy, Soula, (Mother Chris), the ever young Theodore, Ekaterina and Yiorgi for the best holiday experience ever.
We would also like to thank all the people who we met around the the pool area, everyone got on with each other it was so relaxing and friendly I WANT TO DO IT AGAIN !!!!!
Will see you again next year Jimmy

Room Tip: To be honest with you, Jimmy is so up front about everything, he will tell which rooms are best for...

our 3rd time on zakynthos and so glad to have found this fantastic place. starting with a warm welcome on arrival from jimmy until ending with a goodbye breakfast ouzo with soula and chrissi this wonderful family could not have done any more for for us. room was spacious and clean, pool area was great with loungers and parasols for all and the home made food/snacks were always served with a warm smile. it is no surprise that many people will return here year after year. thanks for everything guys. Where to start? The best service I have ever experienced on any Greek island.

Jimmy, Soula, Chrissi, Ekaterina, Yiorgi and Theodore treated us like old friends from arrival. Faultless service and THE best customer care you could hope for. My wife had unfortunately lost her wedding/engagement rings just before we arrived and Jimmy took the trouble to take us into Zante Town and introduce us to the best jeweller so we could replace the lost wedding ring. We felt like royalty.

Lovely complex, fantastic quiet spot, top pool and very good food - we even got Soula's recipe for Frigania!

Alykes & Katastari were the perfect places for us to unwind. Great beach, super food and friendly welcoming service everywhere. Do visit Spiro's on the train tour too. Simply beautiful.

We made the effort to see as much of the island and experience Zakynthian culture and were never disappointed. A real jewel.

We went on holiday and made lovely new friends.

To Jimmy & family - Sas efkharisto yia ton kopo sas.

We wish you all health, success and happiness - you're the best.
