Excellent day out down to see the Turtles.

Boat not overcrowded at all on the day we visited, lots of space and a nice 90 minute trip down to Marathonisi island where we were able to go Turtle spotting in the bay at Lagunas.

Then on to another island nearby for swimming, only small issue was that you were only allowed 15 minutes for the swim, before setting of back to Alykes

Was a good day out though and would recommend, cost was 27.00 Euros per person, you can opt to go by bus to Lagunas at a reduced price, but why would you when you can be out on the sea!!

We have just returned from a three week holiday on the Greek island of Zante. The highlight was our trip from Alykes to the island Kefalonia. After reading the best seller book; “Captain’s Corelli’s Mandolin” it was "a must do.” We sailed with Captain Dimitris on “Golden Dolphin.” The comfortable vessel zipped us over to Kephalonia, where a coach waited to take us to all the very interesting sights on the island. The underground lake at Melissani Cave was pure magic. As we sailed on the lake in a small rowing boat, the beautiful colours of the water was constantly changing by the sunlight shinning through an opening in the roof. We also visited the fantastic cave of Drogarati, a huge cave with a large chamber 65 metres X 35 metres which is used as a venue for concerts. The local winery was an interesting stop with a chance to sample and purchase the local Rambola Wine. The nearby ancient monastery is very photogenic and contains the most splendid silver casket imaginable. The tour had a great finish at Spiros Restaurant in Agia Efimia for a very tasty meal. There were many photo stops along the way before sailing back across the Aegean Sea to Zante. All in all a superb day trip and very good value for money. Well done to Golden Dolphin Mini Cruises.

Long boring ride on a stuffy overcrowded boat, When arriving at shipwreck cove you have to disembark and embark boat using a steep wooden ladder which was clearly unsuitable for some of the passengers who seemed to be experiencing difficulty. As another reviewer mentioned constant stream of boats dropping off people.

be wary when booking this trip to the shipwreck, they go in all weathers when perhaps they shouldn't. Our experience was awful, enormous waves the boat was rocking and the trip out into the open sea was very frightening in a very rough sea. Lots of passengers were physically sick. An unforgettable day! for the wrong reasons

“Loved it...!!”

As the previous reviewer mentioned, e22 for adults and e15 for kids. There are many places where you can book the trip but we bought our tickets opposite Relax restaurant and Spikey's cocktail bar at the crossroads in Alykes. First pick up is in Alykanas and then it stops at the end of concrete jetty in Alykes which is where we got on. There's one more pick up at the jetty by the Astoria hotel and then you're on your way. It stops for around 45mins at the "Shipwreck Cove" which is a must see if you've never been before.. It's a lot busier than it was when my wife and I went in 1991 but because the kids had never been we had to go..! For me the best part was the return because it's a bit slower, taking in more of the scenery. The coastline is very dramatic and quite stunning so don't forget to take your camera. On this particular trip the boat is too big to enter the caves but it did stop off for a 30 minute swim. All in all a very enjoyable 4 hour trip and in our opinion worth experiencing..!!
