First time visit. The overall atmosphere and setting, both inside as well as outside is very pretty and welcoming. Very friendly service with a smile makes you feel at ease instantly. However an attempt has made to make it look "exclusive", say a bit "haute cuisine".
The three of us had our starters at the terrace enjoying the evening sun. Ordering 2 mixed starters from the menu for 3 persons, we expected the dishes to be reset for 3 persons, but it turned out to be a starter for 2 persons. Had to make choices, who gets what.
All three of us took "Tante Ellie" as the main course, based on the (many) good reviews. We booked a table around 7:00 PM, being one of the first guests to be served. Reservation indeed is advised, because within an hour all tables were occupied.
Being familiar with Indonesian food I was very pleased with the presentation, but less pleased with the quality. Sure, it was all very tasteful, but some of the meat dishes were slightly overcooked, making it less tender than it should've been.
The quantity on the table didn't really reflected the well know Indonesian hospitality and certainly doesn't match the price. However, the ambiance is making up a lot.
The dessert (mango ice-cream) is very tasteful and nicely presented, but (again) the three scoops of ice-cream are way too little for such a price.
It's certainly worthwhile to have your Indonesian dining experience at Seray, but we'll definitely try one of the other dishes of the (limited) menu card.
It's a good place for Indonesian tasting in style, but it looks to me "style" comes with a price tag.
