We (grandparents, parents and a 3-years-old girl) were looking for a quiet place to stay for a week but close to the main cities of Central and Southern Netherlands. We couldn't have found a better place to stay.
Huize Dina is a lovely two levels country house surrounded by tulips fields. In the front of the house there is a small lawn with a couple of trees, a local road and a waterway. The traffic in front of the house is very low and nonexistent by night. It is a red bricks old building with old furniture located in the countryside so expect creaking floors and little spiders which, for us, made it perfect to experience Holland. However, everything is very clean, the beds are really comfortable and WiFi internet works great.
The location is perfect if you are using your car. You can park in front of the house. It's less than an hour away from Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, etc. Using the P+R sites in Netherlands will save you time, money and stress.
The house is divided in a lower and higher apartments. Both have their private bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen and living room (with extra beds if needed). However, the main entrance and stairs are in a common area. So, if you are staying in the lower building and you need to go from your bedroom to your bathroom, living or kitchen, you may cross your way with your "neighbour" in his way out. Although we all could have been accommodated in the lower level apartment (there are extra beds in the living room), we prefered to book the whole house. The price was very reasonable and, that way, we didn't have to worry about disturbing other guests if our daughter cried at night or celebrating Spain winning the Euro2012.
Nanny is Huize Dina's owner and host. We made all the booking process by email and she answered all our questions. She greeted us on our arrival, explained everything we needed to know and provided breakfast every morning. She asked every morning if we wanted some other kind of bread or different stuff for the next breakfast. Our daughter wet her bed on the first night and, although we were using mattress protection, we needed new bed clothes. Nanny wasn't mad at all, and she even wanted to take care and change the sheets herself. She was really kind with us.
After a whole week there, our daughter would have loved to stay in Huize Dina forever. That's just says it all.
