“Poor Service & Poor Food”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Decided to eat here because of the view and menu suited all in our party. First drinks and order taken promptly but down hill from there. The Welsh Rarebit we had for starter contained a ridiculously large quantity of grain mustard. We waited over an hour between starter and main course, during this period no staff approached our table, I went to the counter on 2 occasions to get further drinks. The "Famous Fish Pie" when it arrived was so overcooked it must have been put in the oven when first ordered, forgotten and remained cooking for the hour and a half till served (they did offer to do another but we didn't want to wait another hour). The Vegetarian Main course when brought to the table was the Chicken version, this was replaced entailing a further wait for the Veggie version which had obviously been under cooked in a hurry. The other meals were barely adequate. I'd avoid this place there are plenty of alternatives.

“Best in the area & very vegetarian friendly!”
Reviewed 7 September 2013 via mobile

Definitely think Traeth is the best restaurant in New Quay & the surrounding area. Great atmosphere, attentive staff, and really good, varied menu. As a vegetarian in west Wales there'a normally only 1 or 2 options in the menu, but there was loooads to chose from at Traeth! I had garlic mushrooms to start, which were yummy but the sauce would have been nicer a little thicker, then cannoloni, which was delicious and served with salad AND chips which was veeery filling! Then strawberries & cream (I can't remember the name of the cream, but it was whipped and sweet and delicious). All served nicely & good value for money!
Also a very extensive selection of seafood mains, sourced locally, and meat dishes. :) great menu!

Really hope Traeth can stay open all winter! :) and get a bigger sign - it's sooo not obvious where it is! :(

“Good food unlike service”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

Had dinner at Traeth in August so it was busy. The food was good though not everything was availiable and the staff didn't seem to know this either so had to order again and was more interested in chatting to other customers than service. We had to wait a long time for main course to be cleared and took ages to pay as no one appeared very interested by then despite there being not many customers left in the resturant. Was hoping for better given the reviews - while it was busy, The Old Watch House managed this and was excellent.

“Would loved to have eaten here, if only they would answer the telephone...”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

Tried calling 20 odd times, during the week leading up to our visit, to make a reservation but no one ever answered, no answering machine. Website no longer in service and TripAdvisor listed phone number the only correct one of 3 listed on the web. Have to do better than this guys.

“Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

Booked at Y Traeth for Sunday lunchtime, as we did not want a roast dinner.Arrived early and sat out on the verandah looking out on a glorius Cardigan bay, and watching the world go by whilst enjoying a nice glass of wine. The three of us had different starters, which were all fabulous, and the main courses were really really good, and plenty of it. I had the coconut chilli chicken, which was fabulous, and my husband had the Viking gammon, which was also first class. My sister's chicken with goats cheese was fabulous, and reminded her of the one she used to have in the Ship Tresaith years ago.The service was fabulous and a lovely friendly waitress. The owner came over and recognised my sister, from years ago, and it transpired that he and the chef used to be in the Ship Tresaith, so no wonder the food was so good, it was at the Ship with them too. This was our first visit, but definately not the last.
