“Lovely traditional cottage”
Reviewed 1 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

St Mary's Cottage is in a picturesque location overlooking the magnificent church in the heart of medieval Hadleigh. Also very nearby is the medieval guildhall and the Tudor deanery tower; perfect if you want heritage. It is very peaceful. We only heard the church bells occasionally. Despite this you are very near to the bustling High Street with shops, three pubs (all serving food) and other eating places. There is also also a wide variety of shops. The only downside to the location was the fact that occasionally you could not park outside the cottage. But it was not a major problem.
The cottage itself is small but absolutely fine for two people, being comfortable and well-equipped. It was lovely to have the welcome hamper of locally sourced breakfast food.
It is in a very good location close to the Stour Valley and with good acces to the roads to take you to the coast and other parts of Suffolk. All together we really enjoyed our week there.

“Fantastic cottage exactly what we wanted”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

St Marys Cottage is in the pretty Suffolk town of Hadleigh which is also close to many other tourist attractions and wonderful countryside . The cottage is just off the High Street making it very central in the town yet it still retains a quite pleasant atmosphere and once inside you wouldn't know you were in a town . It was perfect for us . We rented the cottage because we were getting married at the Guildhall also in Hadleigh and the cottage is just a short walk away , the cottage also looks out onto St Marys Church another ideal wedding venue in Hadleigh .
The owner was very helpful from the start and the cottage was in great condition very clean and had everything we needed . 100 % recommended.

“Relaxing”
Reviewed 16 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

I had a lovely midweek break staying at St Mary's Cottage, the cottage was spot on, beautifully situated just a minute's stroll from all the shops and pubs of the town centre but looking out onto as tranquil a setting as you could ask for.

Constable Country is lovely, Hadleigh is small and friendly, neighbours stopped to chat and pass the time of day, the riverside walk is flat and gentle if that's what you require but there's longer walks not very far away too.

The late September was gorgeous too.

I can recommend St Mary's if you're looking for a relaxing break or for longer.

“It's a perfect place for a break!”
Reviewed 31 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We had a great time in St Mary's Cottage. The cottage is extremely comfortable and centrally situated, that enabled us to easily explore Suffolk, Essex and even up into Norfolk. Val gave us a lovely welcome that made us feel at home.

“Sparkling clean, centrally placed, adjacent parking , cosy”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

modern efficient central heating, hot water, roomy shower,. The two armchairs are extremely comfortable and there are all the kitchen essentials. The stairs, unlike some cottages, are the normal standard structure, and the decor is bright and light, without fussy kitsch.
We have stayed there several times- it is reliably clean and welcoming Plenty of cafes , pubs with food and more superior restaurants, all within close walking distance..- so drink up, be merry and don,t lose your driving licence
Best tip for ST. MARY'S COTTAGE is go there, see for yourself, and then thank DON for this review.
HAPPY HADLEIGH HOLIDAY !

“cute little cottage, much better for your money than a boring hotel room”

I stayed at this cottage with my fiancé for a few days over my birthday and also to do some wedding planning for our upcoming big day at a venue nearby. It served our purposes well as it was private and self-contained, and was equipped with full kitchen with dishes and utensils, and towels for the bathroom etc, and had wi-fi included. The cottage is small but well designed for the space. It has a nice big modern bathroom with a huge and wonderful shower (however sadly no bath but that is forgivable as the shower was so nice). There were some small issues that others should be aware of. Firstly the church bells next door to the cottage ring every hour all through the night. If you are a light sleeper this may not be the best place for you. My fiancé and I were mostly able to sleep through them though, only getting woken up every once in a while by them. Secondly, there is an outdoor stairwell in the back of the cottage leading to another accommodation next door. When you are in the bedroom and someone walks up the stairs it sounds as though someone is banging on a metal pipe with another metal pipe as hard as they can! In fact that is what I thought it was until I saw the first person using them cross the bedroom window as they headed up it. Finally, the toilet and pipes in the place all make an awful lot of noise at various times, such as just after they are used or other random times - not sure why. So anyone who is impatient with noise issues may not want to stay here. However these things did not ruin our stay and all in all we enjoyed our stay at the cottage, and feel it is vey good value for money. We would stay again and recommend it to others.
