Quirky and delightful cottage with simply stunning views!
Wonderful week stay ...cottage is well equipped..though the landing light is still not working Spent happy hours on the balcony deck. My Hubby treated the cutlery draw to a bottle opener would definitely return & Appledore is gorgeous!

“A COTTAGE THAT NEEDS SOME TLC!”
Reviewed 10 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We weren't helped by the wet weather and would have appreciated some basic comforts , starting with a warm welcome not lots of notes scattered around to indicate how we should behave . Working lights in the hall and on the landing would have been a luxury !! On the other hand there were no helpful directives regarding disposal of rubbish , use if wi-fi . It should have been a quiet spot but as builders are renovating the cottage next door , from 8am there was hammering , banging , singing and shouting, with total disregard for others .

“Stunning Cottage”

Stayed at this fabulous cottage for a week when visiting Appledore. The cottage is situated on Irsha Street, overlooking the river estuary and having stunning views of the river and the village.
The cottage is well equipped, washing machine, dishwasher etc. and very comfortable. There are a lot of stairs so may not be good for people with mobility problems. The bathroom is downstairs from the sitting room and the bedrooms are accessed by another staircase. We found it to be very clean when we arrived and it was nice to find coffee and tea and milk in the fridge. We were tempted to light the little wood burning stove but it never got quite cold enough.
The view from the bedroom at the back of the house is breathtaking

We stayed in Gannets Nest in mid june and it was everything we had hoped it would be. We had breakfast on the balcony everyday and became used to the comings and goings of the boats with the tide. (And the very noisy marines on their hovercraft!) The back bedroom overlooks the sea and it was so special waking up to the tide splashing under the window. The cottage was as described with the added bonus of an extra loo. Kitchen was well equiped and the bathroom was large and clean. Irsha street is lovely and we pretty much viewed the excellent Beaver Inn just along the road as our local. You can park all week in the carpark in appledore for £16 and you can actually see your car from the balcony! Would recommend Hartland for views, Northam Burrows to westward ho! for a walk, croyde for beach and appledore for lovely locals, great icecream and nice shops

A last minute break before the schools broke up, with two teenagers. Not a lot to do, but they enjoyed a bit of regression by going crabbing and eating lots of delicious Hockings ice cream.
The cottage was in a wonderful location, overlooking the water, but parking is in the public car park about 100 yards away .£ 3 a day or £ 16 for the week. A bit of a nuisance loading & unloading the car, but ok if you're prepared.
House small, quirky & delightful. Plenty of room for 4, but if you want a night round the telly, bring binoculars...Don't think I've ever seen such a small tv...
Internet connection good, just make sure you get the code sorted as soon as you arrive. The area is dog friendly and our beardie had a whale of a time. Local people also very friendly.
We had a lovely holiday and look forward to a return visit.
