“Excelent quality for good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

We stayed just a night with the purpose of relax, and we we're extremely happy to notice that the Hotel really provides that feeling. Everyone is very nice and ready to help, the room is big and have everything you need. Unfortunaly, the weather was not that good and so we did not experience the exterior pools, but the interior ones we're really great. The only downside I can think of is the price of the restaurants: For example, buffet 1 PAX is 25€, no drink included. I really recommend spending some time here, during winter ou summer.

This was our first visit to Montargil. Its a small tipical village of the higher region of Alentejo. We know many quality units in the lower part ( in the aréa near to Évora) so this was a nice change. The Hotel its superb,5 stars all the way, very similar in all to the CS unit in Madeira, that we already visit.
The rooms are marvelous, the robes and slipers are free(they were our uniform during the stay,in all areas of the complex except the dining room!)The Spa is huge, warm water and dozens of diferent diferent water jets, a superb sauna and turkhish bath.
The breakfast is complete, 5 stars all the way.We didint visit the damn of Montargil, cause the water activitys were off season naturally, but you ll see them from the complex,in various spots of breathtaking views.
It as also an indoor pool also heated (25 meters) 2 huge outdoors pools , a complete Gym, good bars and restaurants. I strongly recomend a stay here, in the low seasen you can get a great deal and ill be treated like royalty!

The room and the facilties for the hotel are, overall, excelent. There are only a couple of details that might stand in the way of the 5 star rating, as some reviewers already hinted. One of them is the fact that to reach the gym and one of the pools one must walk outside. If it is raining, as it was during my stay, it's not something one is really eager to do. Also, some elements during the meal could be of a higher standard, such as the juices there are not freshly squeezed in the breakfast. Don't mistake my point here, the food is of very good quality, just missing an extra step to justify its price.

We stayed at this hotel during a weekend. The facilities are very clean and pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The pools are also nice. We only had issues with the meals. The breakfast was generally nice, although we were surprised that a 5* star hotel would serve anything but freshly squeezed juices. And the fruit available was also of low quality in general. Stay away from the pool bar. It's simply not good value for the money. Drive around and you will find plenty of local restaurants that serve traditional food.

I’ve stayed during a weekend in this hotel and I can say that it’s marvelous. It has a perfect location, right in front of the barrage of Montargil with luxuriant gardens very well kept.

All the rooms are big with very nice balconies where you can seat and relax or enjoy privileged views. We had the luck of having our room placed in front of one of the pools and with a great view to the barrage and the surrounding scenery of palm trees.
Also the quality of sleep is excelent, excellent matress and pillows and you never hear noise from the corridors or from outside.

The room service is very efficient, we’ve had to ask for more towels and they immediately brought them.
All the staff is very pleasant and smiling, always trying to help you or just give you all the information you need.

In the weekend that we have been there it was fully booked, but we’ve never had any difficulty in having a place to seat, either to have the meals, either to stay near the pools and also to park our car in the underground parking.

We had booked the system of breakfast and dinner and I just can say that it was very good. Plenty of food, many variety and quality of all the things they presented in the buffet. I have to emphasize the deserts that were all heavenly.

The resort has 3 exterior pools and 2 internal pools. The pools from the outside are all beautiful and very pleasant and the other from the inside, one is beside of the spa and the other next to the gym.

You can do many water sports in the barrage and it is just a short walk from the hotel. Right in the front of the barrage you have another infinity pool and bar to relax.

One of the complains I’ve read in the other reviews were the access to the pools and some rooms. Yes is true that sometimes you have to take two different elevators to access to your room or to go to one of the pools, but I think that just gives a special touch to this hotel. It is a peculiar characteristic of this chain of hotels that have with principal advantage, even when being overbooked, you never have all the people in the same place. The pools are cleverly separated by floors and the guest all go to the ones that are closest to their room or the one they prefer, but you never have the sensation of “crowded”.

Other complains was the service in the buffet. I didn’t have that experience. For us they were always very nice and kick bringing our requests.
The only two things I think they could improve was the Wi-Fi signal. Because even having Wi-Fi from the hotel supposedly everywhere, we never could access it because the signal was weak. Or they just could have free Wi-Fi in all the rooms. A five star hotel should have this.

The other thing it was the animation. They don’t have anything special to entertain the guests after dinner. In the days we’ve stayed there they just had a lady singing, but as the place was outside next to one of the pools and very close to the rooms at 11 pm they stopped. They should make the animation in the bars or in a place that wouldn’t bother the guests that want to sleep.

But besides this is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the relation with all the beautiful nature inside and beside the hotel.
I surely recommend a visit to it.

Room Tip: Ficamos no quarto 410 e era excelente pois tinha vista para a piscina, assim como para a barragem. E...

I have only good things to say about this hotel. Front desk staff is friendly and the check in was fast. Room is excellent, very clean, huge bed and very comfortable, the shower is very good and it had a nice view to one of the pools, you have a free safe. Free internet on hotel you just need to ask for a cable and password at the front desk, on the public areas you have WiFi. Good quality sleep we were never disturbed. Dinner at the buffet is fine you have meat and fish choices as well as salads, soup, good desserts and local products. The breakfast is very good as well and the staff at the buffet restaurant is very friendly. We didn't try the à la carte restaurant. The pool bar is nice and you can take lunch there is not too expensive. Pools are very clean and all of them are really pretty, the best is the one close to the lake because it has an amazing view but you have to walk 5 minutes to get there. The indoor pools are also nice, we tried the spa and the massages prices are acceptable, and they worth the money, very relaxing.

There is also some entertaining in the evening, live music and during some of the days there were also activities.

This hotel is a good value and I hope to come back soon.

Excellent location to switch of and relax so we thought. We paid extra for a room with a lake view, only to find some clever person planted 100's of palm trees to block the view except from the fifth floor. Do not bother putting the do not disturb sign on your door ! We did then we were called not once not twice but 5 times to tell us we had the do not disturb sign on the door !! I unplugged the phone. What a confusion with the lifts, the third floor in one lift is the 2 floor in another the reception is on the 1st floor the second floor and on the floor A depending on which elevator you take. The first night we ate at the lake view restaurant on the 5th floor paid over 100 euros on food for 2 and 40 on a bottle of wine you get in the supermarket for 6 euros but ok good wine nice view lovely time food was ok, realistically just paying for the creative plating and artistic smudging of sauce, the chef obviously watches master chef on his/her day off. However we were very shocked to find the exact same food on the buffet table the next day, the desert we paid 10 euros for formed part of the free breakfast buffet the next morning what an insult! And then you start to see the cracks, cold meats all off, rotten, salad dressing mayo's and butters all split separating and rancid serious mis handling of foods and lack of refrigeration. Non of the staff have the slightest notion of customer interaction not surprising really as most are thinking about the homework they need be doing so they don't get detention at school the next day, except the bell boys who are very friendly and helpful quite possibly the only guys that can navigate this labyrinth of a hotel. Pools where to start ? If you are up at 5am you have a chance but if not you will be gazing down at empty sun loungers with towels on but no people, oh no they mark there spot the disapere for the day only returning it seems as the sun sets for a quick dip absolutely terrible. Then Kareoke and other such events on the pool with a bar strategically placed by a now unemployed architect beneath and next to all the more expensive lake view rooms, so I can only conclude that the towels are left on the sun loungers by the drunks on there way to bed at five am thus explaining why they don't appear until the afternoon. Take ear plugs if you want to sleep. Water sports forget it, 1 small boat for water skiing badly maintained 2 kiddy size jet bikes, no jet skis, 2 kayaks but nobody new anything about the rental price or availability and if you could do any of it you can't sign for it to your room so take cash however no facilities to lock away your belongings while you hit the water so that's well just plain stupid. Oh I almost forgot NO ROOM SERVICE, therefore not 5 star hotel. If you are English think of this as an expensive Butlins camp style hotel, if your not English and don't know what that is look into it you will save a fortune. Seriously Mis managed.
