I found the location stunning. When you arrive at the property, you have panoramic views of the Brazilian countryside. They're great to wake up to. The campsite's amenities were also good. The pool was clean and there were BBQ"s available to use. Their pizza oven wasn't quite finished but wasn't far off, which was a shame for me but I can imagine will be awesome when done.
Itauna Beach only 15-20 mins on the bus which is great for surfing. In my opinion the beach rivals Ipanema and Copacabana, but without the crowds. Owners, really friendly, helpful and relaxed. They recommended a local surf school for us to try and even helped us inquire about prices and they helped us book it. I couldn't believe how cheap the lessons were - 120 BRL for 8, 2 hour lessons! Absolute bargain - about 40 quid max, which works out at less that a fiver a lesson!
Overall, it's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Rio. My boyfriend and I made the journey on the bus after spending Easter weekend in Rio and were surprised how accessible it was. We got an air conditioned bus from the central terminal (company 1001) which was only 25 BRL.More
