The owners are very welcoming and their estate is very charming. Breakfast and dinners were excellent. Monique also recommended nice attractions as well as local restaurants. We highly recommend this B&B to anyone.

Monique was such a wonderful hostess to us. We were traveling with our two year old son and that can be a challenge but Monique made it so easy. We had the child friendly Oliver room, complete with small furniture and toys in a separate area for kids. It was a beautiful property, think out of the pages of a French Vogue, a shabby chic elegance pervades the house. The room was comfortable and clean and he pool was beautiful. We felt as if we were in a private and beautiful French home to ourselves. Oh, and the food was delicious and varied both nights. Finally I forgot my swimsuit and they took the trouble to locate and ship back to me which we really appreciated. Highly recommend for a quiet and delightful weekend if you want to visit Carcassone and avoid the noise and crowds. A perfect stay!

Invited at a wedding near Carcassonne, we decided to make it a proper family holiday and stayed at la Rougeanne for a week in mid-July 2014.

As Mentioned many times, the gardens, house and rooms are simply stunning and provided us with the perfect settings for resting and relaxing after our daily outings. Late afternoon swims were particularly popular.

Monique and Paul, the hosts were always very welcoming and ready to help or advise while staying out of the way. As an example, on the day of our check out, some of us had to catch a very early train, Monique simply refused to let us leave on an empty stomach and made sure that breakfast was ready in time.

While there are many eateries less than 10 minute drive away, we had most of our dinners at the house, just for the cheer convenience of it. At €30 per person, all inclusive, it is true that it is not the best value for money for the area but the 5 course meals were always aplenty and offered varied true&trusted local dishes that were hard not to abuse. It is worth noting that the meals are taken at fixed times and with however else is dinning at the estate that night. In our experience it made the whole affair much more entertaining and enjoyable but it may not be everybody's cup of tea.

In the end La Rougeanne offered the perfect hub for our little "southern France" experience (Benabar's "A la campagne" tune anyone?) and I have no problem recommending it.

We had visited Carcassonne briefly and were en route to a wedding in Mirepoix the next day...La Rougeanne was perfect and a delightful place to stay A comfortable and spacious room, with wonderful decor details ..(.and with a mezzanine floor with two extra beds.... good for a family.) The village was small and walkable..we had a simple supper in the local cafe but having read other comments would choose to sample Monique's cooking.. (meals sounded excellent.!)
Breakfast in the orangery was perfect. We would definitely come here again. Monique was a lovely hostess..with excellent English.. chatty and informative for our onward travels.

Loved everything. Quiet small village near Carcasonne. We stayed two nights. The first night we had dinner at Rougeanne and it was excellent with very generous portions. Our starter was a melon dish that is unique to the area. We also were served a very good and large chocolate mouse. The next night we ate in the village and wished we had dined at Rougeanne again. tMonique was helpful with directions and a booking of a boat trip on Canal midi.

We are not able to get together too often as a family for holidays. Our son has just graduated and just before he starts his new job our daughter was able to arrange a few days from her busy schedule too. As usual, Mum's thorough research came up trumps in finding La Rougeanne. The beautiful house is very tastefully furnished and decorated and the welcome we received (in spite of a mistake on our part with the dates..... we called en route to explain our lateness only to find we had booked for the following day!) was genuinely warm, our hosts eager to please.
We stayed for four nights and ate dinner on three, so good was Monique's cooking.
A very special place with very special people, thank you so much.

Room Tip: Take what comes, you wont be disappointed. We had Tomette and Jasmin
