“Awesome Experience....Perfect”
Reviewed 21 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We were looking for somewhere that was self contained, had a pool and was within easy reach of Carcassonne. It also had to be within a lovely village setting and managed by fantastic people. A Sulana met with every requirement! The accommodation is set beautifully in renovated a barn and it is easy to see there is a lot of love & pride in the entire property. We so enjoyed we want to go back and try our hands at this line of work, An inspiration.

“Excellent hospitality”
Reviewed 8 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Reading the other reviews says it all. I would totally endorse - Sue is extremely helpful and aims to help you get the most from your holiday, Its wonderfully quiet, the boulangerie is fantastic, not far to Montolieu and Saissac, 20 mins from the airport at Carcassonne. Good base for the Black Mountains, the Corbieres, the Minervois and the foothills of the Pyrenees.

“Peace, quiet, and beauty”
Reviewed 11 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

It is hard to find a more perfect place if you love French food, sunshine and lovely people. Moussoulens is a little French village not very far from the southern border with Spain; nestled on the southern shoulders of the Black Mountains in an enchanting historical wine-growing area.

The landlady (Sue) is one of those people that you cannot help but love. Very kind, hospitable but yet never intrusive. She makes you feel that Moussoulens is your home from home. The people of the region make you feel welcome too, even if you don't speak much French. Sue kindly introduced us to a lovely French lady (Laurence) who helped and encouraged us to speak better French.

The gites are immaculately clean and beautifully rustic. The view from the south-facing patio is a broad vista of the Pyrenees mountains with snow capped peaks. Peace, quiet, and beauty. The village itself is a truffle and wine centre with food and drink to die for. So much to see and do in the vicinity: the seasonal truffle market at Moussoulens itself, north at Revel, the medieval castle at Carcassonne, Barcelona a few hours south across the Spanish border. The list goes on.

Recommendation: go!

“Immaculate, stylish gite, set in a lovely village.”
Reviewed 23 November 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We arrived to a warm welcome from Sue the owner. During our stay Sue offered advice and help such as booking a restaurant and a taxi for us. Thank you, Sue.
The gite is immaculate and is artistically designed with coordinated furnishings. It has everything which is needed including a welcome 'starter pack'. The pool and hot tub are set in beautiful gardens.
The location is idyllic with a good local restaurant and an excellent patisserie. Bikes to explore the surrounding area, can be borrowed from Sue.
The stay was very relaxing and it is definitely a place that we would recommend.

“Stylish relaxing retreat.”
Reviewed 18 November 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Difficult to know what to write here that has not already been written by other reviewers .A beautiful stylish apartment that comfortably slept myself and friends .Beautiful gardens , great pool, fantastic sitting in the Hot tub viewing the Pyrenees with a good glass of Rose.Moussselens great ,quiet little village with basic amenities and well situated for those who wish to travel further afield including the Coast .Literally 15 minutes from the airport ,drop your bags and chill. The real treasure of les Bergeries du Carbides however is the owner Susan .For someone who has not visited the Languedoc before her encyclopaedic knowledge of the area and its restaurants was invaluable .She really makes one feel welcome to such an extent that we felt more like House guests than visiting tourists.

“Beautiful view, quiet & secure apartment, intimate village & kind host”
Reviewed 9 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed at Les Bergeries du Cabardes for three weeks. The view from the home encompasses a vast stretch of the Midi-Pyrennes, forest and fields. Sue has manicured every element of the apartments, yard and garden making an afternoon of peaceful reflection a perpetual option during your stay. Flowers and herbs are all around the property and the local boulangerie and marche are just a minutes walk away. A wonderful restaurant/bar is a quick walk and many days worth of explorative driving in every direction kept me entertained for weeks. Carcassonne and hundreds of beautiful villages are just a few minutes drive. Barcelona is 3 hours away. This was the perfect base of operations for an extended stay in southern France

“Superb Gite - Absolute attention to detail”
Reviewed 5 November 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A Sulana is a sensitively but very well appointed Gite in the historically interesting Cathar area of France. Sue the owner tends her garden and the three Gites to perfection with every need catered for. The garden is a delight, with pool and hot tub to end a day exploring the area, One of our favourite days out was to take one of the bikes provided and cycle down to the Canal du Midi. We cycled along the canal for some miles lunching beside a lock. The landscape is shaped by Sunflowers fields and vines. There are various degustation nearby. We walked in the Black Mountains, and more locally a circular route at Montalieu, where fig and nut trees were in abundance. We decided after one week that a return trip to this area is a must. But Sue and her wonderful home really added to the experience, she is the perfect host, happily available for advise and recommendations, but also sensitive to the residents privacy. You really must stay here.
