Summary:
+ Big resort grounds with all the amenities.
+ Nice rooms.
+ Two big pools.

- Smoking at the breakfast buffet!
- Not really relaxing.
- Ceiling fan too noisy, get sick from a/c.

Details:
We had just started our breakfast when suddenly a thick cloud of tobacco smoke comes our way. In fact, there was someone smoking almost all the time from then on and it was very disturbing.
When asked, staff said that only inside was non-smoking.
Even if there were enough seats inside for all the non-smokers, in a resort, I want to enjoy my breakfast on the patio and not inside where it's cold and noisy.

This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Big kids area right next to the main pool, big beach bar/restaurant with DJ behind, pumping music super loudly as if it were a night club. (Psy's new 'hit' song "gentleman" blasted constantly – unbearable)
The second pool (a bit far) is nice though.

Airliners pass 300m above the resort every 10-20 minutes as the runway is in direct line of the resort. Noisy! (but I like planes).

Our ceiling fan was very noisy and couldn't be used at night. The a/c's lowest fan setting was still much too strong and we (+baby) all got sick and are still coughing and sneezing 3 days after we're back home.

Smaller faults:
- When we had the 'don't disurb' sign out, houskeeping called us (waking us +baby up) to ask if they could come clean now.
- Upon arrival, there were only 3 drinks in the fridge, so we called housekeeping (twice) to either empty it or restock fully – they never came, leaving us worried that we'd get mistakenly charged.
- Just a handful of tv channels, mostly local.
- Cheesy new-age music at breakfast.
- Beach is white and big but view not so pretty and can't swim because of jelly fish.

In conclusion, if you're a smoker and like loud music, the kids will probably ruin your party mood. If you're a parent, the smoking around your kids and the very loud music near the kids pool area will surely disturb you.
This resort could be much better (mostly with very little effort). We left disappointed (*and sick from the a/c) and we since cancelled our plans to go back next year with extended family.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms nice. Pool view best. Beach view probably not worth it. Upstairs rooms have nice w...

Thanks for your review.
I apologize sincerely for the short-comings you experienced while staying with us. The issue you brought up have been discussed with all concerned and will hopefully not recur in the future.
You'll be glad to hear that we have since revised our non-smoking rules and extended it to the terrace area as well.
Sincerely,

This resort is truly amazing! Right next to the white sandy beach you can relax there or hop into the pool that is right beside it.The only thing about this resort is that it is little bit pricey, especially the resort bar, called CBA, if you walk down the beach you will find great spots that are much cheaper. Breakfast was extensive and really yummy, the staff on the ground were really friendly and willing to go our of their way to help you. Overall recommended!!

Stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful resort. We would not be bother on how much we paid, however, few experiences made us wonder whether worth it or not.

Location is superb. Situated at the beginning of Cenang Beach (from north side) and just a short walk to the commercial strip of Cenang. Beach area is wide enough to cater for the weekend influx of the visitors. Beautiful sunset and when the tide is low you can walk to the few meters into the sea.

Stayed at beach front villa, which is definitely a plus. Unobstructed view of the sea and the sound of waves early morning are really pleasant. Two pools available for the guests - Cascade Pool a little deeper than another one near the lobby.

Breakfast was great despite too crowded in a small restaurant. Mixture of local and western delicacies satisfy everyone's appetite.

Some improvements still needed, IMHO before I can give this resort a 5 star rating.

Arrival - Is this resort experiencing shortages of staff? Unloaded our own luggage from the car, wheeled it to the side before registering for check in. No staff available to assist. No welcome drink as per other reviewers experience. Check in done, looked for the staff to drive us to the chalet #41. One buggy available but no driver in sight. Another buggy arrived with driver drenched in his own sweat - like he just had his shower with clothes on! Carried our own luggage on to the buggy and just a quarter way, have to stop and changed buggy - battery ran out!

Our room is on the upper floor. Room was spacious and clean. Everything seemed fine. We have to request for hand towel and laundry bag since they were not available. Do ensure the balcony door is shut most of the time since it sort of inviting guests to the room - we were wondering what was the sound in the room until we saw something sticked to the curtain. Upon inspection, it was a bat!! Hope it will turn out to be Batman, but we shooed it away. So not Batman...

Breakfast was great in not so big restaurant. A lot of family during our stay, hence the restaurant is bustling with kids running around. This is tolerable since this resort is perfect for family gateway. It will be nicer if the management can provide areas for family to enjoy their breakfast. This will avoid unwanted accidents. Lack of attentive staff made it worse. Again, the resort seemed to have insufficient staff. The were occasions where guests of two could not get the table and have to come back later for the breakfast. My observation was that there are family with kids occupy more tables than they should. There was one family nicely fit into two adjoining tables suddenly pulled another table in the middle of their breakfast. Why did you do that if you can fit nicely in two tables? Staff did nothing and in fact, the family must be the resort staff as well since most of the waiters/waitresses knew them....

Grass around the resort was not mowed frequently. Walking to the beach from the chalet was challenging and unpleasant. Noticed there were couple of workers mowing the grass, but why were they concentrate on the area where the guests will not use? The green fronting the chalet and the beach should be their priority. And they work only for 2 hours a day - because for 4 day stay, the grass were mowed in patches. What a not so beautiful sight.

Security from the beach to the chalet area was lacking. One night while relaxing on the beach, three kids came and had their dinner in polystyrene container. Once finished, just throw it on the beach. When I asked to collect it back and throw it in a dustbin, they just brushed it off and said no dustbin. True enough, it may have insufficient dustbins around.

Enough of rambling :-) Despite the shortcoming, I still believe this is a good resort for leisure and family. Nestled along the Cenang Beach, but away from bustling night life of Cenang Beach.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms are nicer despite a bit pricey.

We stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Lately we've been more inclined to stay at smaller, boutique establishments with a bit of "character", but we got a great deal and just wanted to relax near the sea - this resort and Langkawi (Cenang Beach area) delivered on that requirement. The resort is large and set in a lovely garden - be prepared to walk a little just to get to breakfast (about a 10 minute slow stroll from chalet 3501). The room was large and well appointed with lots of space for suitcases, etc. Obvioulsy well-appointed - fresh fruit bowl on arrival. We also had a very large balcony overlooking a man-made small lake that weaves throughout the grounds. Plenty of bars, restaurants and pools, and the sea-front is lovely but mind "stinger season" - at least the pools offer an alternative for a plunge!
Breakfast was overwhelming for choice - one of the best we've ever experienced and inlcuding it in your package is DEFINITELY worthwhile. We ate out for dinner - no need for lunch after a huge breakfast:-) The local restaurants are within a very easy and safe walk and we were spoiled for choice - every meal we had was very good! A MUST is Raffis beach cafe for satays and beer and brilliant service - thanks Raffi!!! This gem is a just a short 5 minute walk from the resort (turn left outside the Meritus). Also had a spa & body treatment out in the main street which was delightful and very good value for money - lots to choose from so just be guided by your personal preferences. A stay here means you don't have to go far to get everything you need!

I had a lovely 4 days in a good and comfortable hotel in a great location. The room was next to the swimming pool which was convenient for the kids. They had a great time. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. Service was good. Food was great in the restaurants. Staff was very helpful. It was easy to access places to visit by taxi. Overall we had an excellent time.

Dear Lcm260,
thanks for your review. I have let our Housekeeping know about the mosquitos you mentioned and have them spray regularly in all the rooms.
The resort is located on 35 acres of beachfront land and we provide buggy-service for the chalets to get around.
Hopefully we'll see you back here soon.
