Went to Casa Del Mar for our honeymoon for about a week. Awesome resort with an awesome view. The room is clean and cosy. The staff are friendly. The beach is just a few minutes's away. One can do loads of water activities at the beach such as para sailing, jet skiing, banana boat ride etc. This resort is also located in the shopping paradise, with loads of eateries. Bicycles are also provided for the guests. Recommended place for honeymoon

My wife surprised me by booking a night here for our 20th wedding anniversary. We were staying with another couple in Kuah Town but left them for one night to come here. The first thing that you notice as you walk in the front door is the fragrant smell of oils and thoughts of massage spring to mind. The staff welcomed us warmly and even gave us a welcome drink. We were taken on a short tour of the property before being taken to our room which was lovely. Attention to detail would be a good way to sum it up. Things like there were no plastic shampoo bottles but instead little clay fired bottles with corks inserted. The towels were shaped into a heart on the bed and potpourri also placed there. There was foot ware provided for walking to the beach and robes and towels. The room had a little front garden and from here you walked straight to the beach where recliners were provided. There was a nice bar overlooking the pool and beach and had a happy hour where we met other people also staying there. The pool looked lovely although we didn't use it. There were nice foot washing stations near our front garden area. Dinner was had at the restaurant which is on the beach as the sun set. Food lovely. Our desert plates had the words Happy Anniversary writing around the edge in chocolate! Upon returning to our room, candles had been lit and soft music was playing. A wonderful end to a wonderful day. A nice breakfast next morning and sadly we had to checkout early as we had booked to go on the Stardust trip and so we had to be back to Kuah Town well before 9.30. Highly recommended, especially for couples.

We stayed at this exceptional hotel at the end of March, this year. We cannot praise the hotel enough. The staff and their attention to detail and infectious friendliness, the meals(we ate every night at a table on the beach at the hotel, the price is so reasonable for such excellently prepared and presented food), the poolside and beach beds, the beautiful swimming (or chatting!) pool, the view from the hotel etc, etc, etc were all wonderful. Would we stay there again? - Definitely yes. Has to be the friendliest hotel we have stayed in, met many lovely people.

Room Tip: Best situated rooms are probably beach front but you should not be disappointed wherever your room

We stayed at Casa Del Mar in April 2014 for 10 nights of relaxation and it certainly delivered on that front.

We had a beachfront room which was comfortable and spacious and was lovely seeing the beach first thing in the morning. Large comfortable king size bed with good facilities including coffee machine and room in the fridge to store your own drinks. Plenty of space for clothing however the dressing area was in essence in the bathroom as there was no separate door to the toilet therefore only one person could use it at once. Good size shower but the water pressure varied.

Breakfast had good ala carte selection plus fruits, bread cereal etc. coffee was decent and service was friendly if not a little laid back.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but had drinks, which were reasonably priced and there is a big list of cocktails.

There are loads of sunbeds meaning there isn't a morning rush to get one. CDM supply a couple of beach towels each everyday and they brought iced water and fruit throughout the day, meaning along with the sea breeze you could easily sit there all day (which we often did).

CDM is close to a number of restaurants, including Putamayo and Champor Champor being our favourites.

Overall, great hotel in a great relaxing place and would recommend it

Langkawi and Casa del Mar was me and my wives third destination during our two week trip to Singapore and Malaysia. This was the beach holiday and respite part of our trip. I had booked a Beachfront Studio Suite for a week with Getaway Package which included two dinners at La Sal restaurant and Malaysian massage for two at Satkara Spa. We flew by AirAsia from KL and we were promptly met at the airport. We were warmly met at the hotel reception with chilled towels and refreshing drinks and after the formalities we were escorted to our beautiful room “Canario”. Our high expectations were met during our stay and we were time and again amazed at the high level of service and the friendliness of the staff. The rooms are attended several times a day from cleaning to turndown (with lit candles and music playing softly in the room). At breakfast there are buffet and à la carte choices. For a non-american who cannot resist pancakes the breakfast pancakes were really something! It is healthier to sample the breakfast fruit bar. Anyway the hearty breakfast keeps you going for long. You can have room service from lunch menu until 7 pm and after that from the La Sal restaurant’s dinner menu. At Casa del Mar the atmosphere is so tranquil and the premises are so well kept, that it would be wrong to feel guilty not wanting to pursuit any activities instead of resting on the beach or at the pool in the comfort of deck chairs and sunshades. (There are numerous activities available.) You don’t need to worry about refreshments because they keep coming without asking in the form of cold water, chilled fruits and towels as well as popsicles. At times you can have a stroll along the Cenang beach or dip in the water. During our stay we attended afternoon cocktails with the hotel management and met other guests from all over the world. The hotel is situated between the street Jalan Pantai Cenang and the beach Pantai Cenang. There are shops, restaurants and other tourist temptations of various qualities on Jalan Pantai Cenang. The nearest ATM is in the (air-conditioned) Cenang Mall some 15 minutes walk from the hotel. You can find baked goods at “Bread Story”. You may need some adjusting between the ambiences of the hotel and the street. After a while we took the habit of walking along the beach as far as possible and then sneak to the street at the point of our destination. Although you may not find the Cenang beach actually idyllic, the hotel end of the beach was pretty serene and we liked the aspect of some local color while people were gathering on the beach at dusk. In the morning of our departure we enjoyed the same level of hospitality as during our whole stay.

We spent 10 nights here in March after 3 days exploring Kuala Lumpur. Warm welcome on arrival with cold flannels and a sweet drink then shown to our room. Complimentary bottles of water along with ice bucket that is filled daily. Room was cleaned very promptly while we were at breakfast and turn down service in the evening added to the excellent service we received throughout our stay.

Room was large, bed comfortable, bathroom had everything we needed. Air conditioning very powerful which is a must as the heat and humidity can be overpowering especially in the evening.

Casa del Mar has its own sunbeds on the beach although the beach is public but we found that not many people strayed down to our end of the beach. Beach towels provided daily which are left in your room in the evening when they do the turn down service.

Located across from the paddy field and at the start of the strip with shops, bars, restaurants it is close enough to walk and have a stroll and see the night life but the complex itself is quiet in the evenings and we did not experience any noise although we did not return to our room while around midnight most evenings.

Lots of shops offering foot massage for a fiver which I think is a must do while in Langkawi. We ate in the hotel restaurant and also explored further afield. We had our own BBQ on the beach provided by the hotel although we didn't quite understand when booking we would be expected to cook our own food but it all turned out pretty well.

Nice to stroll down the beach in the evening which feels very safe, lots of bars backing onto the beach and their is also a truck that sets up near the hotel where you can buy a cocktail for £2.00 (although its in a plastic cup) and you sit on a mat on the beach and chill out.

We really enjoyed our trip to Malaysia and we would definitely return to this hotel. Thanks to everyone at the Casa for making us feel so welcome.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the swimming pool in the corner called Estragon which we were pleased with posi...

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights at the end of a five week holiday to Australia and New Zealand. We are seasoned travellers to Asia and selected this hotel based on reviews, its location and the information contained in its website.

Many long reviews have been written and the hotel management do encourage use of review sites such as trip advisor as a means of promoting its benefits and helping to combat the other quality hotels in the area. This can be a two edged sword as over inflated reviews will lead to future customer disappointment through failure to meet expectations based on historical 'rave' reviews.

These comments are based on our experience of this and other hotels in Asia, ranging from 5 star top end establishments, smaller boutique style hotels in both town and beach locations and I hope these are helpful and objective.

Location - 10 minutes from the airport, adjacent to a long beach 'strip' which has plenty of water based activities. It is at one end of the main street which has plenty of restaurants and shopping. The street will generate some noise and is not the most attractive feature with much building work which when completed will increase the tourist numbers. This is not a quiet 'idyllic' retreat area. The hotel is located at one end of the main street which is a bonus.

Hotel - a smaller hotel with around 35 rooms on various 'wings' and levels. A well air-conditioned lobby with helpful reception staff is your first introduction. A library area with books, DVDs to rent and Wi Fi throughout most of the hotel and pool/beach area are good features. The bar area is shaded and welcoming with a good number of staff, most of whom are attentive, helpful and cheery. The pool area is good with plenty of sunbeds although the hotel management do encourage early morning towel reservation which can be frustrating when beds are reserved and then not sued for long periods of the day. The common areas are clean and well presented with plenty of natural shade from trees and plenty of parasols.

Rooms - we had one of the deluxe suites which was superb offering a spacious living room, bedroom with four poster bed and a bathroom. Our only surprising downside of this wonderful offering was the instruction on day one by the hotel management not to put used toilet paper in the WC and to place it in the bin provided. In this day and age and in a hotel built within the past 15 years, the inability to build sufficient sewerage facility to cope with modern, albeit 'western' expectations was a disappointment and not something that the current management can do much about. This only seems to be a problem with upstairs accommodation and may only be restricted to the deluxe suites - if so this is a great shame as these are the most expensive rooms.

Food - despite us choosing this hotel for its proximity to local restaurants, we ate within the hotel every night and enjoyed superb food from a wide enough menu, which was prepared to a very high standard and well presented. The beach location was excellent and a good 'Plan B' for adverse weather was in place. We also paid for the La Luna exclusive 7 course meal with wine to celebrate a milestone birthday and were not at all disappointed.

Hotel Staff - led by the current manager, who is leaving shortly, the staff are very keen to help and there is a good team spirit in place and a genuine desire to help. Time will tell whether the new man at the top can continue to maintain the high standards. Many of the staff are long service and this shows through in the team work and service ethic.

Breakfast - wide and varied selection and freshly cooked to order hot food is very good. Freshly made fruit juices are available as is fresh fruit. The breakfast offering is one of the many highlights of this hotel.

Spa - this is a small facility with attentive staff and very reasonably priced. The range of treatments is impressive.

Overall - a very well run hotel which we believe delivers very well against its 4 star rating. We cannot comment on the value for money as this was part of an overall personal itinerary spread over 5 weeks. Our feeling is, from looking at the website that the pricing may be a little high but the good ratio of staff to guests needs to be paid for. This hotel does offer quality however its location needs to be looked into carefully, as it is not a 'get away from it all' site when compared to others. That said, it does offer plenty of activities to suit many tastes and the additional trips available (paid for separately) are plentiful and varied. Overall a very good hotel, well run, but please do not be totally 'bowled over' by the 'perfect' reviews which, I believe' could be counter-productive in the longer term.
