I recently stayed at Bon Ton Temple Tree Resort with my family during our week long trip to Malaysia. During our 4 night stay at Temple Tree, we were delighted by the hospitable staff, lush surroundings and the charmingly rustic feel of the villas. The rooms are spacious, with adjoining bathrooms and wooden bathtubs! Most of the furnishings are antique, which makes you feel like you're transported back to the days of old. The resort also acts as an animal sanctuary, and as a cat lover, I adored stepping outside to the sight of little kittens who would follow you in the hopes of receiving a few pats and cuddles. The freshwater pool is lengthy enough for lap swimming, and serene enough to simply observe the sunset while lazing away by the poolside. Each evening, one can observe ladies emerging from the kitchen carrying trays laden with freshly baked bread, home-made cake, jam, fruit, yogurt and juice, which will be stocked in your fridge for the morning meal. The staff are absolutely amazing, they are really friendly, knowledgeable and tried their utmost to make our stay enjoyable. I cannot wait to come back here!

My husband and I stayed at Bon Ton for 5 nights to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in the Black Coral Villa which we found to be very private and spacious with it's special feature being an open air verandah.

Bon Ton Resort is well situated as it is only a 10-15 minute stroll (or 2 minute drive) to the small town and beach of Pantai Chenang. Here you will find many great places to shop and eat. For such a small Island - Langkawi has many activities on offer to keep you busy during the day.

On our first night we had a persistant little cat (who we affectionately nicknamed "hoha") that kept getting into the room through a gap in the roof. This became a problem as we had to put her out a number of times because she kept trying to jump into bed with us! We informed a staff member in the morning, who arranged for the cat to be kept in the shelter the next night. The cat must have got the picture as we did not encounter this problem for the rest of our stay. Instead she would meet us at the door in the mornings and would sit by us while we ate breakfast - which was nice!

All the resort staff are helpful and friendly and do a great job at their respective roles.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Bon Ton is such a unique place with so much charm and character. I'm so glad we chose such a special place to celebrate our special anniversary. Thanks Bon Ton!

We visited Langkawi for 10 days with a fairly loose itinerary. We had pre-booked 4 nights at the Bon Ton and 2 nights at another (5 star) resort in the North of the island. The remaining nights we had left free to decide where to stay once we had explored the island. Thankfully we did as we loved the Bon Ton so much we were desparate to return after our 2 nights away. Simply because the staff are wonderful, the food fantastic, the cats just irrestibable and the accomodation so unique it made you feel special. I would recommend this resort to anyone (providing you like cats) and hope to return with friends in the future. Thanks to Amir and the gang! Miss Helen and Alistair

A true paradise on earth..a true experience of a malaysian resort and hospitality. Never found a place that is as tranquil as Templetree. Located within 10mins from the airport, in the midst of paddy field and open lotus pond. 8 truly Malaysian architecture buildings restored in the resort, ranging from Colonial, malay estate to a chinese house. Its also a sanctuary for cats, a rehabilitation center.

I stayed in the Colonial estate, and what a huge bathroom it has , with a personal outdoor wooden bath tub and a sun bathing chair. Templetree is the sister resort to Bonton (beach chalet/resort style), and guests can inter-use the facilities of both resort which are located next to other. There are 3 pools within the area, with backdrop of a glorious Malay house. Breakfast is served everyday to you in your resort. Home-made buns, bread and cake, with variety of tea with yoghurt and milk. yummy! In the evening, local snacks are served for tea time .. really yummy Curry PUffs!

Very friendly cats greet you every nook and corner throughout the resort. Great food from Nam restaurant, excellent drinks/cocktails from straits club and chin chin club..
definitely a must try for the Pineapple Mint drink, totally bought me over!

One can just stay in the resort for few days, without having to step out to anywhere else... special thanks to Eddie and everyone in the resort for making our stay so wonderful..

Simply love this resort! Near the airport (taxi took about 7 minutes to travel from airport to the resort). The staffs are extremely friendly, always smiling at us and always there to ask us whether we need any extra breakfast or to answer any of our questions.

Free ride to the nearby beach (by the resort manager).

Food at the resort is excellent. The salad, soup and steak are delicious! The chef did a fantastic job in cooking the steak (steak was thick and he still managed to give us medium)!

There are at least 5-7 cats in the resort and we had special guest (one of the cats) in our room during one of the days of our stay. Cats there are really friendly; not fierce at all!

The only two drawbacks for this resort are:
01) Resort is pricey
02) Got bitten by mosquitoes during the 2 nights stay.

Bon Ton is the type of resort i wish I ran. Stylish without ostenation and with a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms were amongst the best I have ever stayed at...I love everything about them from the bathroom to the views to the outside balcony. In terms of value Bon Ton has to be ones of the best in the world in its category. In short, I'd thoroughly recommend this reosrt to anyone (provided they love pets!). I'd also recommend that you hire a car and see the rest of the Island, esp. up North to get a full sense of Langkawi.

My wife and our 1 year old daughter stayed here for 8 nights, and have to say the hospitality shown by Amir and all of the staff at Bon Ton was second to none!

No request was too much trouble. Our daughter was unfortunately ill after the flight from London, and Amir was kind enough to take my wife and daughter to the local doctor for a prescription, as well as taking us into Pantai Cenang on a couple of occasions for lunch and beach visit.

Our daughter was continually entertained by the waiting staff, who were always very friendly and accomodating, and on our last evening Alison even upgraded our accomodation from Blue Ginger (which is a fantastic little house!) to a house on the neighbouring Temple Tree site for a change of scenery!

The houses, which are traditional Malay homes relocated and reconstructed from elsewhere, are so much better than any hotel room, and the cost for staying in such beautiful surroundings really is so much more reasonable than other resorts in Langkawi.

It will be sometime before we venture back to Langkawi, but there are no questions about where to stay should we do so!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful stay!

Mark, Claire and Jasmine
