This is a budget place so go with that mentality. You will not find the luxuries of a typical resort here except a really nice beach access.
Rooms were in the form of small cottages and were clean. There was a lot of greenery which was nice.
Best part about the place was access to pantai ceneng beach at the back of the resort. A nice cozy corner where you can sit back and relax and get beer from a shack next door. There is a lady here who does massages under a canopy. Her service is decent for the price charged. I mean 30 RM for a 30 min back massage is cheap acc. to me.
Breakfast area was basic but overlooking the water, which made it pleasant.
The location was excellent. It's near the main market where you can buy stuff and find lots of places for drinks and food.

I do feel the place can be slightly better managed and maintained. e.g. some of the broken sun chairs can be repaired. The breakfast area furniture also could have been better. AC is the room need to be replaced with newer, more effective ones.

Overall it wasn't bad for a budget beach stay!

I booked a triple room for me and my friends at the end of June 2014. And today 14th May, they sent us a short notice inform that they have to cancel my reservation due to part of their property being acquired by a new owner and they have to closed part of the resort. Then i'm on my way to manage to find another hotel for upcoming trip. It really waste of time after searching, reading comments on all booking website to find this hotel and you're rejected in someway though they confirmed about your stay. You should be careful if you want to stay here unless you want to be the same as mine!

You have to be joking ... we made a reservation here for the end of a seven week trip around Europe. Thought it would be great to have a week of relaxation on the way home to Melbourne. Booked our accommodation back in November. Now the fun begins. We leave next Tuesday 20th May, and got an email from this place 20 minutes ago cancelling our reservation. Some excuse about the property being sold. So now we have to find somewhere else on short notice. Not at all happy ....... so don't bother even trying to book.

We stayed again in Sunset beach and this time we took the family room since it was 4 of us. Surprisingly, the standard room is way better than the family room. The bathroom is kind of small, and there was no exhaust as well. The bedroom however is huge, and i think even 6-8 people can squeeze in and stay inside. The downside is, when we tried to open the bed below the 'real' bed (you know those bed that has another drawer below that is actually another bed), there was a cockroach so i hurriedly closed it not to let it out. We're not squeamish so nothing to be wary off. But anyway, the room is really just nice that we all had a good night sleep. YOu can seem to think that this resort is just along the busy street of Pantai Cenang.

The resort is still looking good, and their beach front is nice. The only thing that was a real disappointment is the one beside the Sunset beach. The beachfront area has some rubbish, no one seems to clean it up, and it really messes up that portion of Sunset beach. But you can still go to other parts of the beach where it is cleaner.

The beach area was better the last time we were here. Hope they all do something about it coz it might ruin the good reviews Sunset has. (And yes, more breakfast menu would really be nice!)

We stayed here for 6 nights during April/May 2014. We did face a few problems during our stay which you would not expect at a resort, but we soon realised that the resort is more like a back packers hostel in many respects....Firstly, Television has 6 channels ( all in Malaysian or Indian) with only 1 channel being watchable...We reported this problem on arrival. They sent a worker to have a look...He said this was the best quality they could get. This meant that the tv was virtually useless for the stay. It should not be listed as a feature when it does not work. Shower had hot water intermittedly . Some mornings hot, some cold. One power switch did not work, and 1 light did not work...On arrival, the bins in the room had not been cleaned. Breakfast was basic, and ranged from a choice of scrambled or fried eggs, toast and cereal with warm milk...Some fresh fruit was available, with 1 glass of orange juice or a coffee each morning.
On a positive note, location is great. The back of the resort leads onto the beach and there are quite a few deck chairs available for resort users.
Rooms are reasonably large with a large bathroom and toilet area and a spacious shower.
There are no facilities available for other meals or general groceries and drinks.
This is definitely not a "resort", more like a set of rooms leading on to a small beach area.

Room Tip: Don't expect any luxuries, but the resort is facing on to a small portion of the beach at one en...

Stayed here for 10 nts in deluxe rm closest to beach. The room was large and fairly clean though dark. Air con and fan worked but tv didnt. Room was dated but ok. Grounds are lovely with well tended plants and flowers but v dark at nt insufficient lighting. Beach very disappointing it was absolutely full of rubbish so bad that at times it was impossible to walk on beach such a shame as could be lovely if taken care of. Plenty of sunbeds that are set up just above beach but many were broken. Building work next to hotel diggers right behind our room noisy all day. Plenty of bars and restaurants very near hotel. No problems at all with service ladies all friendly and helpful. I expected basic and have stayed many times in v simple beach huts but was really disappointed in this place for what we paid and would not stay again.

We found the accommodation to be clean, spacious and the rooms were lovely and cool. The rooms/huts are situation amongst the tropical plants and trees. Breakfast was adequate and nice to be seated overlooking the beach and sea. However we felt a change of fruit / egg options would have been nice. There are plenty of good places to eat close by. Items such as alcohol were cheap although choices of perfumes were limited, so don't expect to buy here. Staff at the resort were pleasant, helpful and friendly. A very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: I think you are better going for the queen room as there is more space.
